Why SW Radio?
This is a united voice that aims to include and celebrate all the diverse communities in The SW, providing the opportunity to learn about each other and share the common experiences of daily life both in Streatham and the surrounding areas in the SW Region.
When will it broadcast?
The Radio Station has successfully broadcasted in 2006 and 2007 and plan to broadcast in summer 2009 during the Festivals period that happen on a yearly basis in the summer. Streatham Arts Festival that happens yearly in the July period. Previously we focused on the Streatham area but set to expand this to include an all year broadcast covering artistic events with in the SW region and beyond.
What will the station broadcast?
The main focus would be the development of the artistic merits and cultures of the various activities and events in and arround the surrounding areas which had not previously been recognised before and also to give the first stepping stone to artistic individuals and groups who would not other wise have been able to gain radio coverage previously.
The content will cover the following themes:
- Local current affairs and vox-pops
- Local entertainment including links with Festivals, its artists, performers and events. plus information on the surrounding areas
- Children & Young People’s programmes – links with schools, youth organisations
- Community / cultural programmes – links with community organisations and cultural groups
- History and environment – links with clubs and societies and residents
Everyone can get involved!
In addition it also has a dual role in to make the wider public and communities be more aware of what the area, but also developing new skills and broadcasting training for interested parties who would be keen to gain experience within the field of live radio broadcasting.
Ambitions
The vision is that SW Radio Event Brodacasting Project is to become a media portal celebrating the spirit of its people and offers inspiration for future transmissions. The radio station will interact with the community through a team of volunteers who will learn how to produce and record their own shows and broadcast them world wide.
How Can I listen, Listen Anytime to the station content
The station will broadcast via the internet in primarily in the form of podcasts and live streamed audio where possible. It will be podcasting the launch of the Festival on streathamswradio.wordpress.com you can leave your comments on the podcast and also on future broadcasting in July. Please note our myspace.com/streathamswradio and come and join the fun.

The SW Broadcasting project is an Is an an collective group of individuals from various parts of the UK taking part to achieve one goal The SW Radio Event Broadcasting. We look forward to be broadcasting again next year 2009 throught the summer embracing the SW areas as well as other festivals in the in the SW area.
