The Brothers Streep are Dylan Hichens and Simon van Wyk, an acoustic comedic duo from Cape Town, South Africa.
Their venture into the entertainment industry was a natural one – their joint love of comedy organically colliding with their musical skill. As the Brothers slowly started creating songs for their own enjoyment, it wasn’t long until they decided to invite others into their world by releasing their 2006 debut album, "It Couldn’t Have Been Miss Scarlett, She Was With Us At The Time...".
Miss Scarlett is an intimate album, recorded by The Brothers Streep in their home studio. The songs showcase the Brothers’ ability to turn anything into a story, carried by their recognizable harmonies and catchy melodies.
In 2008 the Brothers Streep invited their friends Richard Graham (bass and bgv’s), Tim Smith (keys and bgv’s) and Tim Price (drums) to join them on stage to explore the full potential of their music. This move has taken the band to a new level, creating a unique sound and an unforgettable stage presence.
The future holds a world of possibilities for the Brothers, who are branding themselves as an entertainment outfit, already having a series of podcasts on iTunes to their name, as well as numerous videos enjoying exposure on www.YouTube.com. This year the Brothers will be hitting the local music scene hard, performing both as an acoustic comedy double act, and as an energetic full band, with aims to spread their fan base throughout South Africa as they prepare for their second album. With dreams of an eventual TV series, a Brothers Streep musical, and desires to take their music overseas, it’s safe to say the journey of the Brothers Streep has only just begun...
