   About Street Light Suzie

Street light Suzie is a toxic trio consisting of Wiley Ross on Guitar and Vocals, Ben Evans on the Bass and Chuy Trevino on the drums. Street light Suzie began when Wiley moved to Austin from Springfield Missouri and Ben from Denver Colorado. The first handful of bands Ben tried playin with were a bunch of tools, as was the case with Wiley. So out of frustration Ben put an add in the musician section of the Chronicle that read, "looking for other musicians to drink beer, smoke pot and Rock out..." Wiley was one of the only few who responded. They immediatelly started practicing in Ben's shitty apt. and once they had a handfull of songs down they started looking for a drummer. They went through 24 try outs (most so excrutiating we don't even wanna talk about it) until they found Drummer 1. But only after a small handful of shows he left the band. As was the case with drummers 2, drummer 3 and 4. But none the less they made progress playing rowdy show after rowdy show. They now have landed Chuy Trevino on the drums and play shows all the time all over the United States. So come out, get loaded and havva blast! We're currently looking for a label who will put us on the road for ever and ever. You can always contact us through this website or call Ben at (512) 791-6046 Thanks for stoppin by

:::::HERE'S A FEW REVIEWS:::::

===================================================

It’s hard to convey the power of a live show through a CD, but Street Light Suzie pulls it off with seemingly no effort. Their debut album, “Red River Revival” is a raucous jaunt through everything that makes Rock-N-Roll fun. Vocalist Wiley Ross, bassist Ben Evans and drummer Chuy Trevino team up to make music that hooks the listener from the start. Bluesy and harsh, it’s almost as if they all camped out at the “crossroad” and drank Satan under the table. This band could have started the “sex, drugs and rock and roll” cliché, had they been born earlier. Ross’ voice is like an old razor blade: rusty but sharp, and very likely infectious. From the opening track, “Long Live the Dead”, Street Light Suzie assaults the listener with thunderous melodies. It’s hard not to respect a band that pulls off songs with titles such as: “Cannibal Farm”, “Bag of Bones” and “Flirtin & Squirtin”, to name but a few. This is a great road trip CD… just put it in and drive. Better yet, crank it up at the river or beach, just to let the commercial radio listening public know that you are cooler than them. All in all, to paraphrase a well-worn song: “It’s only Rock-N-Roll, but you’ll like it!”
-Karsten Kroos, Edge Magazine

===================================================

DNA testing will prove Shooter Jennings the hard rock to Waylon Jennings' rolling baritone, but better test Wiley Ross just in case. Snarling out front of this Red River trio,his indestructible whiskey grit begins with the cocaine binge of "D song" and pauses not a single red second over the metallic bar-clearing of "Cannibal Farm" and desperation in "Mary Mayhem." The Reverend Horton Heat road burn on "Diurea"obliterates Mary's memory along with the piano hung closer "Jody".
-The Austin Chronicle

===================================================

Street Light Suzie is a rock trio whose musical approach combines punk and heavy metal in a compelling way that showcases not only rock dynamism, but also solid songwriting and excellent musicianship. The trio -- guitarist/vocalist Wiley Ross, bassist Ben Evans, and drummer Chuy Trevino -- combine expert musicianship with an exciting stage presence that thoroughly entertains, both aurally and visually. Guitarist Ross left the stage to go into the audience and even climb atop vacant tables, recovering his balance nicely when one of the wobbly tables tipped over. His playing moved effortlessly from three-chord riffs to elaborate, well-done single-note solos, the hoarse, shouting dynamics of his vocals an exciting complement to his powerful instrumentation. Drummer Trevino was pounding and vigorous on the skins in an energetic way that was the hallmark of the late Keith Moon from The Who, while bassist Evans added comic relief with his stage patter between songs.

Many of their songs came from the group's recently-released CD, Red River Revival, which contains 13 tracks of original material, 12 of the songs written by Ross, one written in collaboration by Ross and Evans. The songs on Red River Revival are explorations of the dark side of life, the angst of desperation, and are as highly literate in their lyrics as their music is sophisticated. Street Light Suzie stretch the boundaries of punk and heavy metal, just as 1960s rock stretched the boundaries of rock 'n' roll. While 12 of the songs are in the group's punk/heavy metal vein, the last cut, "Jody" is a blues lament with Ross playing medium-tempo barrelhouse piano.
-George Fish, Bloomington Alternative

===================================================

"Police Line Dot not Cross" the guitar strap says it all. Street light Suzie brings back dirty rock 'n roll and they do it well. A catchy name, holey jeans, long hair, an obvious disregard for the well being of their instruments, a knee sliding guitar solo, and even a pare of bare feet, this trio on the outside is the definition of the Red River rock 'n roll revival, but ontop of that they really do rock. Catchy enought to pay attention to but not enough to be cynical about, the songs (what few there were) left the first set crowd begging for more. I can't put my finger on what, but I am definitely looking forward to more from these guys.
-Jack Has, Whoopsy Magazine
