Dear Friend,
On November 3, New Yorkers go to the polls to vote on our city's future. And as New Yorkers, we face a fundamental choice: Do we continue to have strong, independent leadership at City Hall, leadership that is based on progress and what's good for this city? Or do we return to politics as usual?
The choice is clear: we need Mike Bloomberg's leadership – now more than ever.
Mike Bloomberg has a record of honest management, which is focused on getting real results. As Mayor, Mike didn't just accept the status quo – he has turned around our failing schools, raising test scores and graduation rates. He created 311 and revolutionized government. Crime is down to record lows – New York is the safest big city in America.
And now Mike Bloomberg has a plan to help all New Yorkers, especially the middle class, get through these tough times and get ahead – creating a new prescription drug discount card to reduce the high cost of medicine, building affordable housing for working families, cutting taxes for small businesses, helping college students struggling with the high cost of tuition, and making our subways and buses faster, safer, cleaner and better by taking on waste and mismanagement at the MTA.
Mike Bloomberg was raised in a middle class family. He worked his way through college, and took out student loans. He built a global technology business from scratch. As Mayor, he works for one dollar a year, and takes on special interests for the benefit of middle class families. While I haven't always agreed with him on every decision, I know his independence means he puts New Yorkers first.
Mike Bloomberg understands business and knows how to keep the economy moving, even in tough times. Through smart budgeting in good times, Mike prepared New York for this fiscal downturn.
