Streetwaves is here to serve all Merseyside Musicians!
Streetwaves is a Culture Company Music Project that includes Liverpool's 5 neighbourhood areas and Merseyside boroughs.
Yay its now back for its 4th year and its quite good since its 2008 aswell.
The whole point of this is to give young people a change to show what they've got and to enjoy themselves doing the things they enjoy, which is probably making music.
After the overwhelming response to our call for local musicians to take part in Streetwaves, our panel of judges made up of music industry professionals and young people have selected fantastic line ups to play events across Liverpool and the Merseyside boroughs, which is great don't ya think?
The lcuky acts that have been selected will now play live on indoor and outdoor stages in front of the judges so they can be selected as the 'Most Ready Act' from their area.
Being named as the 'Most Ready Act' will open doors to some fantastic opportunities; These include playing Mathew Street Festival & Creamfields 2008, recording some tunes at Elevator Studios, working with leading designers A Design Collective AND their will be very special opportunities throughout Europe which will be announced shortly! =]
The Culture Company would also like to announce that all acts that have entered Streetwaves 2008 will be considered for up and coming events in 2008 and 2009 providing acts with an opportunity to play at quality events around the city.
In 2007/2008 Streetwaves have provided local Liverpudlian acts with a massive range of professional opportunities including Eclectica, Creamfields, Mathew Street Festival, Liverpool Music Week, The Queens Visit and the brand new Liverpool Echo Arena in front of 8000 people. How good is that please?
Organisations collaborating with Streetwaves include MZONE, National Youth Music, The Youth Service, The Dry Bar and The Liverpool Young Promoters, Lifestyles Sports Centres and Rice Lane City Farm plus all Merseyside boroughs.
Streetwaves is funded by:
Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008
