Stretford End is a Hollywood-based rock/alternative/indie band that combines soaring vocals, thought-provoking lyrics, solid rhythms and haunting melodies into an incredibly catchy wall of music.

Formed in January of 2009 in Berkeley, California, Stretford End quickly built up a strong local following with their explosively intense live performances and were soon selling out shows in Berkeley and San Francisco, CA.

The band’s debut record, “Air-Conditioned Life”, was released in the summer of 2009 on iTunes, and began to generate buzz. A true example of a “do-it-yourself” band, Stretford End wrote, produced, tracked, mixed, and mastered “Air-Conditioned Life” themselves.

In March 2009, the band relocated to Hollywood, California and just a few short weeks later, found themselves playing at legendary venues The Roxy, The Viper Room, The Knitting Factory and The Troubadour.

They also caught the attention of producer Gus Cryns (The Academy Is, Panic! At The Disco, Foxy Shazam) who helped produce and record their next EP, “Prelude”, which was released on iTunes Worldwide, Rhapsody, Amazon, Napster and eMusic in May 2010, generating an incredibly positive response for the band as they continued to expand their following.

In January 2011, Stretford End entered the studio with Gus Cryns and recorded "Letters On Sunspots: Siderevs Nvncivs", the first of a 3 EP series, set for a mid-2011 release.

Speaking to HighwireDaze.com, Alexander (Lead Vocals, Guitar) says that the overall theme of the record is truth.

"It's based on a series of papers that Galileo wrote, the sum of which are called Letters On Sunspots. They were the first scientific evidence that disputed the theory that the sun revolves around the earth, which was the accepted general knowledge at the time. Galileo observed that not only did the earth in fact revolve around the sun, but the planets were not perfect spheres, they had pits and configurations. This got him in a great deal of trouble with the Church, who claimed that the heavens were created by God and therefore flawless. His work was forbidden to be published and he was forced to keep silent by the Church until the end of his life."

Stretford End released "Letters On Sunspots: Siderevs Nvncivs" FREE to fans on 07.26.11. The same month they also released their first music video, for their single "The Fates", which gathered over 10k unique views.

In October 2011 Stretford End returned to the studio with Gus Cryns to begin recording "Letters On Sunspots: The Assayer", the next EP in the series.

That same month Stretford End shot their second music video for "Cannibal", the first single from the second EP, and released it on Halloween. The censored version of "Cannibal" gained over 15k unique views within its first week, and is still continuing to climb.

Stretford End is currently in the studio with Gus Cryns and is shooting for a New Years Day 2012 release date for their 2nd EP.
