Having locked themselves in a basement washroom of an apartment building, behind the Shaw's parking lot in Fenway, with two mics, a PA stolen from their highschool's music department, and a broken down Leslie B3 organ, STRICTLY! FOR THE BIRDS was born of sweat and noise. Obsessed with the raw sound of James Brown (back in the days of his famous concert at the Apollo), The Stones, and Band of Gypsys, but in love with Beatles and Beach Boys harmonies the boys struggled to write songs that would fulfill their ears' desires. Attempting also to pull off the difficult task of intertwining a modern sound with a retro one, the frustrated group decided to just fucking play. After many practices that dissolved into fights with flying drumsticks and knocked over amps the boys dared enter the studio to record their first demo. Outside of Gypsys, Sun, and rainbows, and The Stones, influences include The Clash, Nirvana, The Strokes, The Smiths, The Beach Boys, and Black Sabbath. The Boys plan to take over Boston (and then New York, Europe, and the rest of America) with their overdrive cranked lead guitar, occasional organ work, grungy vocals, and pop harmonies.
