Strictly from Hunger was started in the late '60's. Headlined with top acts like The Cream, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Neil Young and Buffalo Springfield, Canned Heat, The Byrds, Lee Michaels, Frank Zappa, The Allman Brothers Band.
Hunger had success in the Los Angeles, Hollywood area, but misfortune befell on the band when we had our equipment stolen by the mob and we had to disband, we were on the verge of major stardom before this happened. Hunger was scheduled to play at the Hollywood Bowl with The Young Rascals and Janis Joplin, as they say "the moment just slipped through our fingers."
I chalked it off as experience and got married, started a family and forgot about my past, until my nephew called me and said Hungers album was selling on the internet and doing quite well. Come to find out, I'm a legend from the rock psychedelic era! The Strictly from Hunger album is a collectors item, people can't get enough of the band even though we're no longer together.
I'm putting together a new Hunger band because people want to hear the music again, I'm recording new versions of the old songs and new songs playing the parts myself to capture that "Hunger vibe." So stay tuned.
-John Morton
I am John Morton's granddaughter, Lauralee Miller, and I'm co-running the Strictly from Hunger myspace.
