Save Tinsley Towers	Jan 26 2008 2:59 AM this was sent to me: Passed by the towers on wednesday 23/1 and can confirm major prep work is going on, they have bulldozed a large mound of earth around the bases on the side of the viaduct and seem to have dug a pit around the other side while 'weakening' the drop sides. My guess is that the 2 old dears dont have much time left :(

Save Tinsley Towers	Sep 20 2007 2:33 AM E.ON UK continues preparations for demolition of the Tinsley Cooling Towers Preparations for the demolition of Tinsley Towers are well under way, with intensive discussions continuing between E.ON UK, the Highways Agency, and other interested parties. A series of test blasts have already been carried out and plans are being developed with Meadowhall Shopping Centre to provide a viewing area for locals who want to witness the spectacle. Mark Maisey, E.ON UK Property Manager, said: "We're making real progress on site and we will share the demolition date with everyone as soon as we have that confirmed. "However, it is imperative that we make sure that all the necessary preparation has been done, including extensive safety checks, to ensure that all potential issues have been dealt with. We want to keep disruption to an absolute minimum and we are still some way from being able to pin down a suitable date." A competition to raise money for the Sheffield Children's Hospital and Rotherham Hospice will also be launched once a date is confirmed, giving local residents the chance to take their place in the history books and set off the flare to begin the countdown to the demolition.
