STRING JAM CLUB - LIVE MUSIC UPSTAIRS AT THE SALMON INN, BANK STREET, GALASHIELS TD1 1EP on the last Saturday of every month. Voted the second best gig in the UK by the Guardian and Nominated for the Scots Trad Music Awards Club Of the Year Award in 2007. Launched in 1997 by local singer-songwriter and guitarist Allie Fox, the idea was to have a small club where young local musicians could meet up to network and play together, as well as stage the occasional guest night for up-and-coming singer-songwriters. Thirteen years later, the String Jam Club is still going strong and a well-known venue on the UK live music circuit. Over an eventful decade it has hosted a Hall of Fame of internationally-known roots musicians and well over 800 local and semi-professional musicians have performed in the club's now legendary and coveted open mic spots. Our audience is noted for its discernment and listening qualities but is also incredibly lively and welcoming. String Jam Club proves the point that a miraculous kind of magic can happen between performer and audience in a small special space and it's something you'll never forget. String Jam Club at the Salmon is an experience, both for the punters and the artists, where you can see some fabulous musicians playing live up close in a really intense and intimate atmosphere.
