Influences
Vast. Most of the following are hated by at least one member of he band but loved by at least one other!
Oasis, REM, Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys, The Monkees, Coldplay, Stranglers, U2, Nirvana, Soundgarden, The Jam, Pearl Jam, The Who, The Doors, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Manics, Green Day, Rush, The The, The Christians, Nickleback, Radiohead, Stereophonics, Feeder, AC/DC, Hayseed Dixie, Dandy Warhols, Greatful Dead, Bauhaus, Sisters Of Mercy, Queen, Placebo, Blink 182, The Adventures, O.C.S., Johny Cash, The Big 'O', Elvis, Elvis Costello, Counting Crows, Hootie, Frank Zappa, Led Zep,Steely Dan, Funkadelic, Bob Dylan, David Bowie,...more to follow.
Hailing from the north end of Liverpool, Strobe were formed in November 2002 by bass players Ste Williams and Rob Morrison. The former turning his hand to six string to create a set of original songs.
Drummer Steve Rothwell joined before the first live outing in May 2003. Steve eventually left but not before the band had clocked up appearances at most of the main venues in Liverpool, The Cavern, Zanzibar, Barfly etc... Blackpool's Liquid Lounge, Birkenhead's Iron Door and Manchester's Academy 3 in January 2005.
Jay McLean took over on drums shortly afterwards before he himself eventually bowed out after playing Liverpool's Carling Academy 2 in April 2006. Jays tenure for Strobe included a tour of Lyon, France in March of the same year.
Writing has continued unabated throughout drummer changes and now Paul Brough has fitted seamlessly into the hot-seat.
Described as Rock, Pop, Indie, or any combination thereof, the purpose of Strobe has, and always will be, to write and perform songs that rock the big stage and also hit the melodic spot even when busked on the street.
