After Gregory Markel's departure from The Living Daylight he singed on board with The Prime Movers (Dread Zeppelin) in 1985. The Prime Movers scored with Markel’s “Strong As I Am”. Hitting on The BBC Top 20. And the song was chosen for the pivotal spot in Michael Mann’s flick Manhunter. The video had considerable rotation on MTV. Filmed on top of the L.A. Stock Exchange Building. The song was also used for pivotal spot in Abraxas: Guardian of the Universe as well. Staring Jesse “The Body” Ventura.
1988: Gregory Markel formed Show of Hands in Huntington Beach, CA. Meeting Guitarist Curtis Mathewson through The Prime Movers Manager. Curtis brought in his band mate, Rob Thomas from Des Neauveaux. Gregory Markel found Chip Moreland through a mutal friend. Scott Richmond would come on and share guitar duty.
1990 Show of Hands became known as Altered State Signing to Warner Bros. Releasing two albums. "Strong As I Am" recorded and beefed up on the second album :[dos]:

[Gregory Markel] Originally, there were 3 verses, each addressing the most important people in my life at that time; my Father, my Mother, and my girlfriend.
[Gregory Markel] Actually, I had mixed feelings. The song was very personal, about
my parents, and to hear it as the backdrop for a murder scene was quite jarring.
[Gregory Markel] people continue to respond to it on a very emotional level. It

[Severs Ramsey] We really had no idea that our song would be used in such a
pivotal spot in the movie. It was quite a compliment to us and we were VERY
impressed.
