Sounds Like
i would hope like many things. if you might find some eno, cluster, wire, and/or durutti column in it then we're on a same page. current "songs" up reflect my ongoing interest in
purer electronic and synthesized music.
i am an architect, a musician/recordist and an artist. i've devoted much of my life to exploring and experiencing music across the widest spectrum. so much so that it took way too many years to finally allow myself the opportunity to create my own. in the early nineties i had the good fortune to befriend a musician called dale lloyd- and he was somehow confused into thinking i might be a fitting node in the project he was formulating
which was to become lucid. built on a sense of purposeful naivete, it became a vehicle for
endless playings with sound (and an excuse for quite an accumulation of toys!).
the project was nicely received in some very small corners of press and public. (i was very appreciative that a first review came from (a favorite electronic composer) paul schutze in london's venerable "the wire" magazine, even if he was somewhat puzzled by it!) having lucid under way also sparked interest in reconfiguring another of dale's extant projects "after the flood", enough so that we were able later to work with gordon sharp (cindytalk/this mortal coil, refer to myspace.com/cindytalk, or click on cindytalk in my friends, for some history) both on our second atf release (along with contributions from his name is alive, windy and carl, labradford) and on his then current cindytalk undertakings, and his techno project bambule.
concurrent with this i also took part in maurice caldwell's oft regurgitated super soul revue called ironing pants definitely (IPD), well, because i'm so damn funky.
but mainly, aside from being great experiences of their own, they kicked me in the butt to get things underway here myself. there's only so much time in our real world, and i try to spend as much of it as i can making noise. a couple of nearly conceived projects include a collaboration with a singer darcey quinn, which i put in a pile called see also, and was quite excited at what it sounded like it might become; dubious brothers/djschmeejay are the names i put the sampley-beatey and dub stuff under...and am doing lots of ambient and electronic experimentation constantly (noizvendr; soundtracula; among other projects), and with resultant conversations about composing for film and dance under way as well.
a large part of the last 5 or 6 years has been devoted to an attempt at helping my pal tim pollard with his vast collection of great little pop songs (myspace.com/theuniverse).
one of the main current undertakings has been a collaboration with fellow sound artist and all around great guy dan amell, whom has probably poured your beer at the tractor.
Aye,Rich mentioned he was taking a sabbatical. I've only just returned from 3 months in Japan, with lots to do musically,so,i'm afraid i'll be unable to join you all.Hope it's fun though... Cx.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STUART!!!!! I still think of all of us as young kids playing up at the old house before we moved...remember all the fun we had? Celebrate, have fun...and have a drink on me!! Love, Dana :)
Thanks for the kind comment. Sorry for the delay, but I've been putting the final touches on the debut record. It's up now on itunes and amazon (amiestreet, rhapsody, etc.) There are 2 sides: Sink and Fall. "Sink" is more pop and electronic; "Fall" is more punk and country. We appreciate all your support. Have a happy MWU year
Hi Stuart. Thank you for taking a look at my model car race track! It's slots of fun. They make really well detailed cars these days and it's gone digital too. If set up that way more than one car can be in the same lane and even change lanes. There are lots of cool youtube slot car videos.
The SF Auto Show is this week and there is an HO slot car club set up there that I am going to check out. (if this cold I have gets better)
it definitely seemed like an appropriate time to put the track up (with 9/11 comin' up and all the election craziness). it still kinda weirds me out to hear it (a bit eerie).
hope things're goin' good - let's get together soon... timmer
Hey, Ed here, we're celebrities here for the moment, we did a segment on German TV and ran around town with a film crew from WDR 4 giving a "NYer's opinion of German nightclubs", they drove us around in a genuine NYC cab - it was a SO WEIRD to be in a yellow cab but in Germany! The gig at the festival went really well and we had a BLAST, we've been asked back again next year, everyone here is so incredibly nice and we have been very well taken care of. We partied on stage with ATB during his show and he is a great performer. It's new for us to be walking down the street and hear in hushed voices, "Das ist Bombergirl." We did a set that was mostly older songs, the festival at the time of day we played was primarily families and kids so we moved more towards our brighter material, we brought beach balls to throw into the crowd and the younger kids loved it, one kid followed Abbey around for a while after the show and this young gentleman had a lot of bravado, a real budding Casanova. All in all, this has been an incredible 5 days here. We're off to Amsterdam tomorrow.
