I have been playing bass for sixteen years. After teaching myself for five years, listening to Level 42, Stu Hamm and Billy Sheehan albums, I took an A level in music, and subsequently studied for a degree in popular music at Leeds College of Music. After graduating, I worked on cruise ships for a few months as a member of the ships orchestra, playing broadway style shows. Upon my return to the UK I began working with function bands and teaching privately. In 2002 I became a writer for the UK's Bass Guitar Magazine, and was approached by Sanctuary Publishing to write a series of bass tuition books. I have written 6 books to date, and am currently working on the seventh - the all-encompassing 'Bass Bible'. I also have a publishing company of my own - Bassline Publishing (www.basslinepublishing.com) through which I publish the Mark King/Level 42 bass transcription series and my soon-to-be-released book 'Ultimate Slap Bass'. Gigging-wise, I am a member of the Carl Palmer band and to date have toured Spain and the USA with the group. I am also a member of Up4Grabs, a very successful function band.
I enjoyed reading your "journal de bord" about the last tour of Carl Palmer's Band. I visited myself several cities or the tour, like Oslo ( where I met Borj), Copenhagen, St-Petersburg, Madrid, Budapest, Rome etc... You are a very patient and courageous man to travel like this and play the gig almost every night.
Bye from Sylvie ( I am going to Peru this friday, airports are sometimes a pain in the ... neck)
Hi Stuart. I have very happy that you give me your friendship. I like your music that I have listened to Naples with Carl Palmer. I hope you have a good week. Good Luck and GOOD MUSIC! Daniela
It's been a long time; how are you doing? I hope you and your family are well!!! I just thought I'd pop by to say hello!!! Take care and have a fantastic weekend!!!
Hey Stuart, Love the Simpsons (who could forget Springfield Illinois ?) I hope all is well with you and I look forward to seeing you on a US tour hopefully soon.
Just noodled over to your page and am thoroughly enjoying my stay.
Fine work, Simpsons is just peachy, and if anyone's wondering how it's done, it's nothing a few thousand hours practise, application and a dose of talent won't sort.
Hi Stuart, Great to see you play on 13th April in Hove albeit only a couple of numbers but you managed to fit in an entire ablum's worth of notes !! Fantastic playing!
I'm looking forward to your bass solos book becoming available !
Pleased to virtually meet you! Thank you for joining my circle of cyber friends, for excepting the add and for sharing your Beautiful Music with me. Good Sound and Vibes!! Take care and have yourself an inspiring week. Warmest Regards from Toronto, Canada.
Happy New Year Stuart! Bonne Année 2008! I wish you a lot of shows and performances in 2008. If you ever come back in Montreal, let me know. I will go see you playing again.

Hi Stu. Thanks for the add and even more for an amazing gig at Mr Kyps last week it far exceeded my expectations. I hope you do return there in 08. Here's a short clip I took of your solo. I love the sound of a 6 string bass. Cheers....Geoff.
