Rapidly becoming known as “one of the most exciting bassist to hit our music scene today,” this accomplished Bassist, prolific Composer and inimitable Soloist with his own unique style and sound is leaving his audiences breathless with the skillfulness in which he expresses incredible depth and emotional sensitivity, together with his ability to create an “audible illusion” with his instrument is nothing like we’ve ever heard before, performed on a bass.
With a strong background in the study of music, theory and history, together with a personal passion for practice and creative musical experimentation, Stuart has successfully cultivated his own musical style like a fine vintage wine.
Having spent much of the past 25 years Producing, Arranging, Recording and Performing with many top Canadian artists, Stuart decided it was time to concentrate on his own musical career. With the right time and opportunity presenting itself, Stuart set out to recruit just a few of the many musicians he admired. “When the world is your oyster, choosing the right combination of pearls to string together from the endless supply in the sea of musicianship, was one of the hardest choices I’ve made to date Stuart says”.
The result - his debut CD entitled “Edification” with an all-star line up of musicians Vinnie Colaiuta on Drums, Don Grusin on Piano/Keys, Tom Scott on Saxophone, Luis Conte on Percussion, David Blamires & Nura on Vocals.
This wonderful collection of 14 original compositions showcasing Stuart’s many diverse talents, not forgetting his incredible ability to take the sounds of bass into “audibly illusive realms,” takes you from beginning to the end on a seamless journey of exploration into the many facets of Jazz. From the smooth grooves of “Edification”, “Same City” and “Elegance”, to the beautiful ballads of “Al”, “Always There” and “November” to more scenic, epic pieces like “The Dream”, “Soar” and “Blackout”, this well written, well executed album is a wonderful example of great musicianship and compositions.
Poised to attracted national and international attention watch for its release in 2007.
