I don' t have a regular band, but friends I play and record with. My friends (probably like yours) are the best.
My backup band is known as the Ice Cream Anti Social. It's not so much a band as it is a collection of musicians who have been kind enough to make my songs come to life with the talents they have. Chances are if you come to one of our gatherings, you'll get a good aural vibe from the following:
Cricket: An AMAZING talent. She plays guitar, but she's just as at home behind a kit of drums. Her vocal additions are sweet as candy topped with honey, then smothered in sugar.
Tay: He rocks the lower octave. Coming from a death-grind-evil core background, he had the intensity I wanted when playing live.
Paul M. Rose: Hands down the best technical and flexable percussionist in west Michigan. As a teacher of percussion, Paul's ear for detail is a complete blessing to my songs.
Mr. Nick: Mister Nick is another percussionist who keeps it tight. He's a complete perfectionist, which I respect and benefit from.
Influences
Wow...where to start...
Adrian Belew, Angie Aparo, Dinasaur Jr., Louis Prima, Meat Puppets, They Might Be Giants, Vic Wooten, Sex Pistols, Jimi Hendrix, Cheap Trick. You know..."That" sound :)
I'm also a fan of pre-grunge punk...bands like Dead Moon and The Wipers. They created the soundtrack that most flannel-wearing bands were inspired by...the good ones, any way.
"It is a very funny thing about life - if you refuse to accept anything but the best you very often get it."

Meet Stu...
I've been blessed with a great bunch of people who have encouraged me to start making the music again after a ten year hiatus. While I fought the idea at first, I want to say thanks to everyone who convinced me it was the right thing to do.
I don't like being all heavy about the songs and the music I write. If you hang out and read some of the posts I make you'll be pretty quick to figure that out. I'll just say this about my songs, and leave it at this...
My head has been full of random melodies for as long as I can remember. Sometimes they have made me laugh. Some have turned me into a pile of goo...bawling like a baby. As these tunes present themselves to me, I'll do my best to relay them to you.
My songs are all really personal, and it's impossible to explain what they are about. I get a kick out of people telling ME what they are about! That says "mission accomplished" in my book.
My influences are blues masters, oldies, Heavy Metal, punk, Ska, reggea and probably more styles that I'm not thinking about at the moment.
Now I'm looking to share friends, share music, share experiences, share joy. So feel free to lurk in on my blog if'n you'd like...and please (!!!) leave a comment or two...
Enough of the too-serious songwriter BS....
Thanks, Friends!!! I appreciate your love and understanding more than you know!
That's pretty amazing to me. I mean about that blurb about the pogo. I'm totally on the same page with you. Gees I remember thinking that exact same thing in 2005 when I was writing some songs. Okay I've got some time. Gonna go listen to your band. :)
