Studio 54 Dance Band is made up of 5 talented and experienced musicians from Buffalo, NY.
Vocalist ASHLEY KATE comes to Studio 54 as an acomplished WNY singer. A graduate of Buffalo State College, she has appeared in many theatre shows. including the Western New York premier of "Beauty and the Beast" as Belle and the sold-out run of "High School Musical" as Sharpay Evans. Other Stage credits include, "My Way" - a musical tribute to Frank Sinatra, "Bye Bye Birdie" (Kim), "Kiss Me, Kate"(Lois), "Suds - the Rockin 60's Musical" (Cindy), "State Fair" (Margy) and "Grease (Rizzo). Ashley currently has a role in TV Pilot "Discs", a 30 minute drama based in Buffalo, NY. An eternal student of music and theatre Ashley Kate has trained with LA Casting Directors Ricki Masler and Linda Phillips-Palo, Ted Kryszko of Disney Records and actor Jason Connery ( yes that's 007's son).
As a perfect precursor to her position with us here at "STUDIO 54", Ashley Kate has spent some time as the lead vocalist for local Disco favorites "DISCO DUCK" and fills in periodically for Rock and Country band "Naughty Dawg".
MARTY MORREALE, as a teen became a self taught vocalist, drummer/percussionist and not so often guitarist. Playing in a band with his cousin, local singer/songwriter Sam Conjerti, and some high school friends started him on his musical journey. His first real endeavor was co-writing an album of acoustic originals (again with his cousin Sam) entitled "Earth Free", which still sells internationally! The knowledge gained from that recording turned out to be invaluable in understanding what it takes to succeed in the music industry. Then, after fronting a classic rock band with brothers Dave Stoll (Stoll Bros. Band) and Dan Stoll (The Headers), Marty helped form and played drums for the Party/Wedding Band "Night Moves". To further round out his musical experience, Marty spent 2 years with the successful country rock band "The Long Riders". For 13 years Marty played drums and sang lead for the popular "Forgotten Dreams Band". Most recently he has be lead singer for the "Double Take Band". Marty now shares his wealth of experience with.......................(you guessed it.)................."The Studio 54 Dance Band"
Bassist DAVE MENDOLA cut his teeth in the early 80's hard rock scene of his hometown, Rochester, New York. Dave has been heavily involved in many facets of the Buffalo music scene since moving to Western New York in 1984. Through the years Dave has played bass in many notable Buffalo bands. During the 80's and 90's, Dave created and taught a 14 week rock band workshop called "Rockshop", which was designed to help young musicians make the transition from student to performer. "Rockshop" received national acclaim in 1990. Dave also co-founded "Soundquest", a concert series which featured performances by up and coming Buffalo area bands. Dave also spent several years as an under-study for the band in the interactive musical comedy, "Tony and Tina's Wedding". A former student of Head East bassist, Rich Robinson, Dave credits much of that success to the great people/musicians he has had the pleasure of working with through the years, especially long-time friend and band mate, STUDIO 54 drummer, DON A. You might recognize them from such bands as Sudden Impact, The Jukes, White Lies, Dreamland, Mysterious Ways, Liquid Groove Theory and of course, STUDIO 54!
Don's been a member of the working music scene in and around WNY for some 25 years, playing drums and some keyboards in various local rock and dance groups. His last group, with bassist Dave Mendola, was The Liquid Groove Theory. Don began playing regularly on the local circuit around 1984 in his first touring group called Wildcat. He spent the majority of his musical career in notable bands such as Sudden Impact and The Jukes. One thing has remained a constant throughout almost all of his career... a rhythm section consisting of himself and bass player Mendola. Guitarist
JOEY D. has been a member of the local music community for more years than he will confess to. As a member of “Bad Detective”, an 80’s power pop cover band, he opened for many national acts including “the Guess Who”, “Joe Perry Project “, “Teenage Head” & “Talas”. Joey moved from there into alternative music as second guitar for Caroline Records recording artists “Lone Cowboys” fronted by the late NYC punk icon ALAN K. Refusing to be tied down to one type of music Joey spent most of the early 90’s in the legendary classic rock band “Jonesie & the Cruisers”. Joey currently is also a member of “The Outpatients” covering everything from classic rock to new alternative music.
Now in a whole new genre of music with STUDIO 54 Joey brings his decidedly rock edge to our dance music.
Studio 54 is managed by Frank Michaels of THE MUSIC AGENCY. In addition to rockin out the local bar and restaurant scene, they are available for private parties, corporate events and weddings. To book Studio 54, please call 716.833.3908
