Many artists believe success comes through pretension, a too-cool-for-school attitude and trendy clothing. Others rely on well-crafted songs, a full command of their craft, and belief in their music. Studio E belongs to the latter category. Their music is fresh and familiar all at once, captivating and moving, heralding the arrival of the next true rock and roll band.
The members of Studio E grew up in New York, Philadelphia, Oregon and Mumbai. Each was raised on rock and roll. Each had a musical aspirations by his early 20’s. They weren’t interested in anything else. Finally, in New York, chance brought them together. Singer/songwriter Streets had scheduled a rehearsal with a drummer in hopes of forming a new band, only the drummer overslept. All alone in a practice studio, Streets asked the studio staff if they knew any drummers looking to be in a band. It just so happened that Edgar was coming in that evening to do some solo drumming, and the two linked up and hit it off immediately. Through a mutual friend they met CC, and via Craigslist they met Josh. Studio E was born.
The band has quickly made a name for itself amid New York's dense live music scene. Studio E now regularly packs some of the best music clubs in New York: Canal Room, Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, Sullivan Hall, The Delancey, The Annex, National Underground, to name a few. The songs have been described by a music blogger as "infectious," the band's stage show "amazing!" Everywhere they go, Studio E gets audiences dancing, singing, clapping and taking off their shoes.
Studio E released its debut EP in November 2008 at a CD release party of over 200 people. The tracks are being played on Starliners Radio in Europe and soon will be on college radio stations here in the U.S. "We're gaining momentum,” lead singer and guitarist Streets says. “We have a ton of fun on stage and that enthusiasm is carrying over to our fans and then re-transmitting back to us. It's a cycle, and it's growing more intense with each show. There's a real community being built around Studio E. The goal is to ride it as far as it takes us.”
