About me: Hello, my name is Steve Shields. I am the owner and operator of Studio Six Studio. I have been a musician for all of my life and I play most kinds of music. I began recording when I was a young teen (about 12 or 13) with a sound-on-sound reel to reel tape machine and it all went from there. Even though I couldn't spend as much time recording as I wanted to I have been at it ever since. That's almost 40 years of learning everything I could about it and buying the best equipment I could afford. Years ago, the equipment was completely different than it is today and we spent enormous hours trying to get clean and quality sound on whatever media we were using. Back then that was the art of recording. If you were an amateur like myself and owned consumer (semi-pro) equipment then much effort went to enhance the sound or to overcome the poor sound media. Of coarse we did not know that back then. We just dealt with what we had! Today with digital equipment recording is much simpler and it takes less time. That's why I have been able to produce more recorded music in the past few years than I had over the entire of my life before I owned a digital recorder. Digital Recording put Studio Six on the map in Wichita, Kansas. We can multichannel record, do mixdowns, and produce our own CD's and masters. Our sound quality is definitely "good" and we have the capability of doing the artwork on the CD and the CD cases as well. Studio Six Studio is my favorite place to spend time recording or jammin' with my friends and family.

Hi Steve, Winfield was great. I did play well in the contest, but there were about 30 people woh played really well and I thought any one of them could could have won this year. One of the high points for me this year was playing with Pete Huttlinger on Stage 3 Friday. We played a couple of my tunes together and he just nailed them both. It was really a beautiful thing. Will you be going in 2010?
