Captain Stu's Interests
|
| General | Jesus stuff, seeing young people achieve all they can be, helping the poor and disadvantaged. I also love Good Coffee. The only thing that can improve on good coffee is some good friends to spend two or three hours drinking it with. | | Music | I reckon Offspring rules and yet at the same time I am a fan of Kylie Minouge. I'm into planetshakers, pop. And I reckon Pink does some awesome tunes. One of my favourite songs though has to be Robert Miles, Children. | | Movies | Gotta Love Spiderman, classics like Blues Brothers (just the original). Corny stuff like down periscpoe and of course Police Academy. But if you want to know the most unusual one, it's called struck by lightning starring Gary McDonald and Catherine Mclements. It was made in the early 90s and I think it is a crack up. | | Television | Peter: I'll handle it, Lois. I read a book about this sort of thing once.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't nothing?
Peter: Oh yeah
What can I say Family Guy Rocks | | Books | Geoff Ryan's Sowing Dragons has reclaimed the top of my most favourite book list. Shane Claiborne, The Irresistable Revolution. Man that book rocks, I urge you, buy it, borrow it, whatever, just read it, you'll never be the same. Rob Bell, Velvet Elivs, what a thinker. Bryce courtney is good too, it just takes a while to find the time to read 800 page books.
Geoff Ryan is the winner this week though, Sowin Dragons, stirs my imagination. | | Heroes | Apart from Jesus...Peter the disciple, Major Brendan Nottle, Nelson Madela, Martin Luther King Jr and my beautiful wife, Nari. My Friends Jonnie and Christine in Alice, they are true servants of our indigenous brothers and sisters and Jesus. |

Captain Stu's Blurbs |
About me:
Well where do I start I'm not really sure. Basically I'm pretty relaxed most of the time. I spend heaps of time working with people, youth, kids and in schools. I'm a salvo officer, hence the title captain stu (gotta love the sound of that).
Apart from that, i'm generally a pretty happy guy, I'm passionate and ocasionally intense. I try to do the right thing in life, which isn't always as easy as it seems. I'm a christian, not that a label like that is always helpful.
I believe that church should be accessible to everybody, and i'm not convinced it actually is at the moment.
A couple of years ago a friend and I were talking about what it means to change the world. I talked about how what we do in our regular everyday lives, the way we treat others, respect, love and care is actually changing the world. She told me that was a load of crap. If you want to change the world it is going to take something more than.
Some 3 or 4 years on, I haven't figured out if she was right yet.

Who I'd like to meet:
Regular people. I just meeting regular people, people like me, people who are different from me. People who agree with me and people who completely disagree with me.
I've come to the point where celebrities really irritate me. WHY THE HECK DO WE CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THESE PEOPLE? Really, who cares of Angelina adopted the great grand mother of Lindsay Lohan. Or the shocking revelation that Tom Cruise jumped up and down on a couch screaming he was in love. (I still think the shock there was that it was with someone other than himself.)
If I had to pick some people I'd like to meet
Alive: Bono a celebrity i'd give a chance first.
Dead: The disciple Peter - I think we have similar personalities, and Mother Theresa.
Old: Tony Campolo, he's a legend, Kevin Rudd, I wonder if he is actually a nice guy, in real life.
Young: Any kid who's doing it tough and wants to have a chat with someone.
