Smidge Malone, a Puerto Rican punker with a bleached Mohawk from Queens, is a trumpet virtuoso whose vocals sound like the bastard child of Louis Armstrong and Tim Armstrong. From North Carolina comes the only Jewish drummer ever to be born in captivity, Johnny Ballz. Disco Ronnie, the Jersey white trash trailer park pimp, pumps out non-stop madness on the tuba. Together the three Stumblebums create a manic wall of musical sleaze, the perfect soundtrack for a night of dirty living. .... ..

The Stumblebums are an incendiary force on the New York City music scene. Even though the band has deep respect and admiration for the art of both Louis Armstrong and Nirvana; the Stumblebums reject nostalgia in favor of riotous spontaneity.

This is evidenced by the rapid-fire yet guttural vocalizations of frontman Smidge Malone who is also a ferocious trumpet player. His horn lines convey the entire canvas of human emotion which leaves audiences everywhere amazed. The basslines are dutifully carried out by Disco Ronnie whose tuba playing displays a razor sharp accuracy as well as a playful raunchiness. The Stumblebums final but in some ways most important member is the erstwhile drummer Jonny Ballz whose service is indispensable due to his charming rambunctiousness.

The Stumblebums have performed on many stages including the Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg, World Cafe, Highline Ballroom, Mercury Lounge, The Box, Hiro Ballroom, Living Theatre, Shea Stadium, Joe's Pub and the Hammerstein Ballroom. They have supported many artists including The Roots, The Black Lips, Jim Rose and Ween.
