The Finnish synthy group Aavikko (Desert) was set up almost 15 years ago and now enjoys a remarkable prestige with audiences in both Finland and abroad. Their fourth album, “Novo Atlantis”, continues Aavikko’s fascinating excursions into the world of futuristic tunes. With the help of varied and significant aspects of electronic music, the group presents dance tunes played with analog synthesizer equipment and acoustic drums, as well as Latin grammar evoking the legendary deeds of ancient history - both differentiated as regards to genre and regional-specific traits. As a studio-oriented group, Aavikko can form and create different types of compositions to their full extent only on recordings. With great concentration and patience and by virtue of having a wealth of musical ideas to draw on, Aavikko has created an album that attains a more satisfying sound, widens their expressive means and shapes its own model of music in the world of our time.

CAPITAL BEAT
8-piece ska/reggae-outfit The Capital Beat is the latest signing on Stupido. The guys will have their debut-album out on Stupido 23.9. They toured every possible festival in the summer and turned out to be one of the most promising bands in Finland in 2009.

DESERT PLANET
Desert Planet come from the Finnish Lapland and perform electronic music they call Donkey Kong Honky Tonk. The duo (trio, when playing live) is greatly influenced by the good old video games from the 70's and the 80's. They have toured around the Europe with their highly visual stage show and space helmets. In 2005, the band received the art award of the County of Lapland, which has previously been given to so called "real" artists. However, the members of the band have been active in the Northern music scene for a long time, in such guitar rock bands as Jalla Jalla and Greenhouse AC.

ELÄKELÄISET
The leading rock magazine in Finland, Soundi, once branded Eläkeläiset as a disposable joke act. However, they are already in their second decade and have toured around the world (well, at least Germany) many times. Apparently humppa ("oompah"), booze and old age seem to be an irresistible combination - for the people of the Northern hemisphere, at least. The back catalogue includes seven studio albums, two live records, a double CD compilation and a DVD. Still, many claim that Eläkeläiset are at their best when they are a bit drunk, half-naked and in front of an enthused (German) audience. You can forget the beautiful idea of "growing old with dignity" here! And if you didn't already know, Eläkeläiset mainly play covers of famous pop- and rock-classics spiced with lyrics about the joys and sorrows of the aged, coffee and alcohol, grannies and mopeds.

KAIKUKASTI
Formerly known as a reggae band Kaikukasti is releasing a debut album with which it is declaring a statement for proggae. With its self-titled debut album Kaikukasti is exploring Jamaican roots reggae by fusing it with the band’s own cultural roots. The outcome is a blend of reggae, rock, pop, jazz, Finnish folk music and even western classical music.

PLUTONIUM 74
Five years ago Plutonium 74 released a promising debut album, Pasilasta Kalliioon. On the 28th of May, 2008, they'll release their second album, Polttoalueen ulkopuolella, on Stupido Records. Let's let the band do the talking: "Peittoalueen ulkopuolella" provides a healthy dose of that honest-to-goodness naively dramatic touch and mishmash of styles the gang in question is known for. It took three years of polishing, pruning, shining and grinding at a glacial pace to make this, the group's second record. Its characteristic odor is comprised of at least the following components: ecstatic discofunk, brain-tearing prog and lots of floaty bits that give off a feeling fairy-tale-like longing.

PELLE MILJOONA
Pelle is one of the great artist personalities in post-war Finland. Although he was in his own way bringing punk to this country, he managed to channel his ambition to a career of an author and a troubadour. He lives a part of the year abroad, but always comes back to Finland to make his observations about the local everyday reality. A mythical figure, who still has a lot of creative energy, although he had his biggest hits in the times when there were only two channels on the Finnish TV and the dictator was called Kekkonen. He joined the Stupido roster in 2004 - with a noteworthy back catalogue on other labels. Pelle performs live alternately by himself, with his latest band Rockers or with his legendary line-ups from the past.

The mighty retro-skansters The Valkyrians joins the Stupido family hot & steaming, straight outta studio! They release their follow up for their legendary High & Mighty -debut album (2006). The album is out 30.9 and will be available also on vinyl.
