LOUIS JORDAN, that's for sure, ROY MILTON, JOE LIGGINS, TINY BRADSHAW, CALVIN BOZE, TINY GRIMES, RUSTY BRYANT, LESTER YOUNG, COUNT BASIE, DINAH WASHINGTON, ROY MONTRELL, JIMMY WRIGHT, CHUCK HIGGINS, JOE HOUSTON, BIG JAY McNEELY, JOHNNY SPARROW, LYNN HOPE, BUDDY JOHNSON and all that today nearly forgotten cats and chics from the early to late 40s independent-labels.
Sounds Like
when we started the band, within a very short time we started playing on places like Jazzfest Burghausen, the Club 100/London, The annual Swing And Jive Weekender/UK, the Jazzfest Gronau, the Jive Festival Montpellier and nearly every major Jazz-event in Germany and Benelux, a bit in France and Belgium. I will have a look to complete this list! - Oh, not to forget the flamboyant start in a new chapter of the Bouncing Balls' bandlife in 2008 at the Admiralspalast/Berlin!
The Balls first hopped the bandwaggon around 1990 with the aim, aiding the jumping and pumping tunes from the mid to late 40s a second life. (A while before the Neo-Swing-wave flooded Europe! - We are very proud of that fact!) - It was the missing link between the great Swing-Orchestras from the 30s to the first steps into the Rhyrhm & Blues and Rock'n'Roll craze, called JUMP BLUES. - Lightyears ahead of things to come. Enthusiastically idolized by heroes like Louis Jordan, Roy Milton, Jay McNeely, Rusty Bryant, Joe Liggins, Joe Lutcher and all those today nearly forgotten guys and dolls. In the years of the first bandlife up to 2001, the Bouncing Balls played all over Europe, France, Netherlands, England, Belgium, Swiss and most of the major festivals like Burghausen or Gronau or simply a stint at the 100 Club on Londons' Oxford Street.
Now, after a seven year break, the Balls hit the road to the land of Oo-Bla-Dee again. Same backline, but with a new real gone chirpster on the mike, our high-priestess of Jive. Packed with loads of jamming, jumping and swingin' tunes to get hip to whatever Jive you like! Join with us the holy-trinity of Louis: Jordan, Armstrong and Prima!
I especially like the way y'all sum up the Jump Blues as the "missing link"
All the years I been trying to explain that era of music to novice listeners, I never once thought about something as simple as referring to it as the "missing link"
Good luck with the G.A.S--I have that problem as well. Amp-Acquisition syndrome can be just as debilitating! That Standel 25L15 keeps calling out "buy me! "buy me!"....
Nö nö! Richtig fein an der Raststätte!
Mit Hände waschen, ich möchte doch das 47 Jahre alte Lenkrad im Volvo nicht entweihen!!
( Ha ha!)
War eine echt tolle Show!
Greetings
