This site is really amazing...I have to say, I have been really contemplating going to the NSA in Scottsdale this summer, but I am nervous about going because I do not stutter,rather I am a graduate student intersted in this wonderful community. Thanks for the encouragement! Who all else is going the NSA convention this summer?
hey what's up, im Billy and im 19 and I've been stuttering since I can remember and what's funny is that I have never met someone with a stutter, or heard someone else talk with a stutter, but if there's anyone in San Diego or even El Cajon, message me, we should kick it
It seems like over the last couple of days my stuttering has decreased some.
Anyway, for the last 4 or 5 months I was hanging out with some people who I felt uncomfortable with. They were not bad people in the sense of drugs or drinking, just kind of crude. I stop hanging out with them. My stuttering has reduced some. But still not back to where it was for the last 10 years.
My stuttering had gotten so bad that each sentence is/was a challenge.
I did a 5k race on Satuday and a guy I don't even know very well, Although I am do see him at some of the races. Said I don't stutter all the time and then asked me if people in high school and at my Bar Mitzvah made fun of me. Jerk!
Sort of pissed me off. Anyway, I am a competitve runner, and do well. And kicked his butt. So I compensate in other ways.
Hey I've been stuttering ever since I was five. I had therapy as a child an I could control it, you never would of notice it of course I got nervous but when I spoke it came out perfectly to make a long story short a tramatic event in my life happened which cause stress anxiety an nervousness caused me 2 lose my control but I got my control back a few yr later. Then in fall of 2006 it got really bad an even worse dis year so if anybody has any helpful suggestions please send them my way
This summer has been a rough one for me as a result my stuttering is in full force!! Having a challenging time getting back on track or being ok with the amount of stuttering...haven't been able to get to group...I listened to your podcast Thursday, all day and you guys totally help me to put my focus back on my speech and using my tools for my difficult moments... THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!
cool website. We have a 5 year old who stutters severely. Just moved to IN and having a heck of a time finding someone who specializes in stuttering therapy here, not to mention we will be paying out of pocket b/c our insurance doesn't cover it. Before we moved we had a great SLP working with him in Memphis. We will be checking out your site often. Thanks.
