This legendary outfit was birthed on the 1st day of 2001 by King Leisure, DJ Wetmouse, Bustin' Box and Jack Action. They released 2 really, REALLY underground records that year: Nasty Bitches, This Is For You and Higher Evolutionaries. Plagued by criticisms that Higher Evolutionaries was too produced, they attempted to re-capture their glory with the woe be-gone Westward Hoes from 2002 (a Western-themed concept album). Disappointed with this outing, the Suaveys re-grouped in 2003 with their best recording yet, The Pumping. With live tracks and guest spots from C-Man (who brought along turntables and acoustic guitar), this record was a definite step up--the Suaves were re-invigorated!
After the release of The Pumping, SP began the long journey to finish their greatest album yet: Forbidden Libidinals. "The Body Malone" was the first track recorded and heralded a new era: that of higher expectations and tighter compositions. After "The Body Malone," C-man, King Leisure, Bustin' Box and DJ Wetmouse holed up in Jersey City making more music. After a nearly 9-month gestation, Forbidden Libidinals was released to near unanimous praise. While the Prospects have been laying low since, rest assured they're slowly cooking some shit up for a serious barn burner in 2008.
Hey Dude. Good to hear from you! I'm getting ready to hike the Appalachian Trail in April. 2000+ miles of walking in the woods. Can't wait! How's life treating you these days?
