Subdued are a Southampton based
four piece, that have an innate ability to produce a sound that is fresh and
exciting, without seeming re-hashed or over produced. Their songs are simply
complex affairs without the feeling of deja-vu, so often felt with other bands
you have never heard before.
Dan, Dave and Tom started playing
guitar together in 2000, at the age of 14. Jamming and playing the odd school
event. In 2002 they started playing some songs that Dan had written then, in November of
that year the band played 'Endless' at Southampton Guildhall for their school. -
Subdued were born.
In January 2004 Craig Brownlee
joined the band as drummer. The group was complete. They got offered the chance to go to
Estonia and play a few shows there as part of a youth awareness program. They joined 3 other bands from Italy, Hungary and
Estonia, and played several gigs in the town of Voru.
Drawing upon the great riffs of bands such as
Reef and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Subdued are now in to their sixth year together, although its
just the beginning. Their guitar driven music is based around Dan and Toms
addictive riffs supported by thumping drums from Craig and thundering bass lines from Dave. This, coupled with Dan's lyrical prowess, makes for a very exciting, original combination of sounds that gel as a whole and seem to grab the attention of whoever we play in front of and with. The songs vary in style from
energetic rock to melodious ballads.
