submodern create electronic space pop filled with synthetic bloops, bleeps and beats. we just finished up our new album slowburn, a sixty minute continuous mix of psychedelic ambient groove. several of the songs are up here for you to preview.
we also have hours of recordings from live sets, including some we played at burning man, up on our website.
if you like what you hear and you want to hear more, you can buy our debut album or our latest ep, both out on cryptic funk records.
here's some music we've been listening to lately...
Did you do more stuff to the BV Park remix? Just curious. I notice it's been uploaded again. It's still my fav remix of the song. Thanks again, my friend. :-)
Hey,
Just dropping by to wish you a lovely week. Hope all is well in your world. As for me, I'm hard at work on my album.

Thanks so much for your comment about Sketchy! I think that song is turning out really cool. It's a bit more jazzy than some of the other songs, and it works quite well with my voice. The song reminds me a bit of Everything But the Girl. I think our voices sound kind of similar on it.
Hey-- I want a copy of your new album whenever you get one. Thanks! Rachel
Hah! Was that a review you found somehwere? If not, that's one of the coolest things I've read! An accurate depiction to say the least.....I'm gonna post it with my other reviews
Thanks for the kind words. I'll try to come up with something about Submodern as well! Cheers
good seeing you guys play out again...didn't get to chat tenori-on with you either. only caught part of the set, but was watching through the window from the front table. nice!
A pleasure chatting with you as well. Caught some of the set, new tracks, eh? Nice stuff! Hope you'll be doing more gigs round the Bay, would dig to come down and listen....
Travel safe and thanks again for the kind words. Cheers -W/Blip/Insane Robot :)
After your legendary performance last year, we all really hope you guys can make it back for transistor electronic sound art festival 2008, June 13 and 14 in denver, Co.
Thank you so much for your playa gift (as well as your CD) from Burning Man "Hope and Fear". You have inspired me to do my own thing...more than you know. See you on the playa.
As of December 12th 2007 our worldwide exclusive distributor Soulseduction filed for bankruptcy. Bad news that spread like wildfire and shocked the independent label scene.
This circumstance poses a massive financial threat to Etage Noir and numerous other record labels because the distributor acts as the main link between the label and the music consumer.
But for all that we have to keep our positive attitude and will go to any lengths to save our most beloved baby Etage Noir.
Therefore we offer you two label compilations for download exclusively from our website (http://etagenoir.com). These discs were originally scheduled to be released in March 2008. The music featured includes all time classics as well as brand-new and unreleased material.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the music lovers, DJs, journalists, radio stations and business partners for their massive support through all the years.
