Formed out of the ashes of a post hardcore metal band and a chance meeting of a stranger through the musical equivalent of a lonely hearts advert; metal guitarists Garry and Stuart gelled with vocalist, Soo; over cover versions of Dusty Springfield songs and musical frustrations.
No longer wanting to pander to any scene the newly formed 'Subrosa' decided to just write what they felt, using two acoustic guitars, one stolen, one legitimate; and Soo's voice.
After eight weeks of writing in the dark evenings of 2006, Subrosa had completed their first E.P 'Pressed in a Book' using borrowed microphones set up in small student bedrooms.
The band played their debut gig in Birmingham’s Topshop in amongst the bows and bangles and watched by a large crowd made up of Japanese tourists and fashionistas. Subrosa also self released 'Pressed in a Book' on the same day.
Summer 2006 consisted of playing to anyone who would lend an ear, and hosted by any bar, Chinese restaurant or Castle who agreed to let Subrosa perform.
Through an unexpected twist of events and frantic mailings of press packs, the band was summoned to London to meet with two producers whom offered Subrosa their services.
Armed with inspiration and now with an incentive, the band wrote incessantly and soon composed their mini-album. The tracks were first demoed in a disused factory with the aid of a noise-core drummer as an engineer and the sounds of someone murdering a Sex Pistols song bleeding through the walls and ceiling.
Unperturbed, Subrosa maintained their DIY ethic and added the experience into a catalogue of bizarre encounters that they seemed to always find themselves in; not forgetting playing in front of a hundred drunk pirates who offered some chilli as payment.
Upon hearing the demos, the aforementioned producers set a date with the band to record the mini-album properly.

I havent got much planned for the summer, as Im moving to Wales to work for a year as part of my Uni placement =] Im going to Leeds Festival thou which should be good.

The Sun Seekers have recorded a version of Teenage Kicks for a national radio station competition in Ireland. This song was a hit in the 70's for the punk band The Undertones who hailed from Derry in the north of the country.
