Sounds Like
old skool breakbeat hardcore with a spot of jungle.
Remerge started in early 2007 and quietly set the precedent for the current old skool influenced recordings, as seen in recent material by Zomby, HATE and even The Prodigy. Initially, the concept was to re-interpret old rave records and rebuild the samples into modern day hardcore classics. Over the last two years, the series has slowly come to it’s logical conclusion with two original recordings, which retain the essence of ‘92, but remain relevant to the sound of ’09.
"Amenyall" is produced by DJ Wasp, a pseudonym for one of the most revered and consistent producers of electronic music over the last 16 years. Expect the usual formula to be broken, crushed and recompiled into something truly unique. “Wasp” described it as "The track I wanted to make 15 years ago" and we are really proud to be able to release it.
"Terror Overdrive" by AGT Rave Cru is on the flipside and is without question, one of the toughest, most manic records you're likely to hear all year. Wild stabs, full Juno hoover workouts, ruff breaks and one of the greatest intros to a track ever; this really is the real deal. AGT Rave Cru is a duo who individually also record as part of Posthuman and Digitonal. They organise/hold a residency at "I Love Acid" in London. Artist / Press quotes:
"Downtempo'd dark fidget jungle meets oldskool stab-a-thon - it'd drop like a bomber raid in a club that one mate - skillz!" Mark Archer (Altern 8 / Nexus 21)
"Top stuff, really like it! Great mix of old & new school styles, with a dash of Hijack thrown in for good measure" Strictly Kev (DJ Food)
"Where was you in 92? Who cares - I sure as fuck know it didn't sound half as good as it does pushed in this AGT track. This is just plain beastly, tearing up the old school and making the new school look like the crying snot-nose bitches they are" King Cannibal (Ninja Tune)
"One of the sickest tracks ever! keep killin it!" Kid 606 (Tigerbeat6 / Mille Plateaux)
"Strapped to a chair and soundly beaten around with laser stabs, concrete pianos and rolling snares...that shit is fuckin' FIRE!!!!" Drums of Death (Civil Music)
