SUBSTANCE KA Formé à Montréal en 2006, Substance Ka est un groupe de cinq musiciens produisant un puissant mélange psychédélique de dub, jazz, rock et électronique, le tout sur pulsations intenses et profondes. Le nom du groupe évoque à la fois l'organique, le synthétique et le transcendant. Notre musique vibre au mélange d'instruments traditionnels, basse, guitares, percussions, claviers, clarinette, le tout uni par des échantillons, séquences et effets divers rappelant les transes des univers du groupe Gong, les début de Pink Floyd et de Sonic Youth, combinées aux groupes instrumentaux de l'heure tels que Cinematic Orchestra, Massive Attack, High Tone et Zenzile ... Plongeant nos auditeurs dans une expérience musicale unique, amplifiée par l'apport de vidéos exécutées par Valentin Valkinov, nous invitons aussi des artistes locaux francophones et anglophones, à joindre leur idées et pensées en paroles. L'expérience euphorique de Substance Ka vous transportera dans son univers éclectique tant musical que visuel. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Substance Ka is a Montreal-based quintet that performs pulsating psychedelic space rock. Since 2006, we have delivered a powerful and catchy blend of dub, jazz, rock and electronica, all laid down on a fondation of deep pounding rhythms. With a name suggesting the organic, synthetic and transcendent, our music balances traditional instrumentation of bass, guitar, drums, keys and clarinet, with loops, samples and effects. All are intertwined in tightly executed trances reminiscent of the psychedelic universes of Daevid Allen’s Gong, early Pink Floyd and Sonic Youth - combined with the groove of current instrumental stars such as Cinematic Orchestra, and the French dub masters Zenzile and High Tone. Although the usual formula is instrumental, we also invite francophone and anglophone spoken word talents to drop some wisdom that brings to light the implicit evolutionary worldview espoused by the members of the band. In addition to the musical maelstrom we unleash on our audiences, the experience is at all times enhanced by stunning hypnotic video projections that bring attendees to altered states of awareness.
