DJs and producers, Ryan Brogan and Christian Bloch, started Subtrak in 2006 to showcase both their individual work and their collaborations. The duo began working together in the hear of Techno city, Detroit, around 2002 in the form of live performances and DJ sets. This was quickly followed by and a release on the Danish Kondi imprint known as AudioRiot, which is now considered by many to be a must have in any Electro collection. Subtrak's first release, by Ryan Brogan, rose very quickly on the charts and the 1000 copy limited release sold out overnight. Since moving operations to New York, and after a brief hiatus, the label has founded relationships with a number of well known digital distributors including, but not limited to, Beatport, What People Play, Dancerecords.com and Juno. The current Subtrak catalog is comprised of twenty one releases to date, and averaging 2 releases a month with new artists being discovered, there are no plans of slowing down. Collaborations are currently focused on artists like The Pale, whose tracks are standards in many top DJ's crates around the world, and Alex Israel who just released his latest EP, Besheret, on the label. Purveyors of Minimal Techno, Electro, House and Breakbeat, the label is pushing forward in a digital universe; contributing to the next wave of electronic music. And rest assured, they remain true to form and avoid the glitzy hype that has become DJ culture. While the two have not performed live or DJ'd together in over two years, one can be certain that their DJ skills and live performances are just as deadly as their productions. When the time is right, the Subtrak crew, including newly appointed label Manager and New York DJ/Promoter, Chris Alker, will return to the nightlife with their own events in the US and internationally. For now, growing the label and supplying turntable assassins with records that will stand the test of time is their goal.

Slabs of the Tabernacle NYE Party @ La Cheetah Club (formerly The Twisted Wheel) 31/12/09
Mark du Mosch (Moustache Records - Rotterdam) Electrick Dragon LIVE (Rotterdam) Casionova (Cyber Dance Records, Magic Waves, IFM) Slabs of the Tabernacle DJs
Headlining the New Year party we welcome back Mark du Mosch. This will be his third time at Slabs so it's fair to say that we have much respect for the Rotterdam artist. An obsessive collector, Mark's DJ sets manage to be intriguing and hard rocking in equal measures, and we really couldn't think of anyone better to headline the New Year extravaganza.
Joining Mark will be fellow Rotterdamer Ricky the Dragon, performing a rare live set as Electrick Dragon. Having put out records dating right back to the early 90s (under many many aliases), Ricky carries with him some proper techno credentials. With his most recent output on Moustache Records he has produced two epic synth party bombs that are now firm favourites of ours. We first caught the Dragon live show at the Magic Waves festival earlier this year and it blew us all away, and so are delighted to welcome Ricky to Glasgow for his first Scottish performance.
And finally, making the trip up from Brighton will be the Italo battle axe Casionova. Over the past two years Casionova has become a permanent fixture at Slabs of the Tabernacle. His DJ sets are straight from the heart affairs and again we couldn't think of a better guest to see off 2009.
