"The most assured and inspired new Irish band to emerge in yonks.
Tomorrow the world!" - The Independent /
"SubZero offer much to impress, especially on the glam-rock-pop stomp of "Wrecked" & "Watch The Freaks". - Hot Press
FROM FIRESTARTER TO ICE QUEEN...
SubZero lead singer Paula Gilmer honed her energetic live performance as a direct result of sharing the stage with the Prodigy.
Watching Keith Flint ignite the crowds at The Point was an epiphany. This is what fronting a live band is all about and I knew at that moment this is what I wanted to do.
Joined on stage by drummer & Goddess of Thunder Orna Carr & guitarist Quinn, plus a live set of great songs. The band have be wowing audiences in the capital with explosive performances at: The Village, Sugar Club, Hard Working Class Heroes Festival, New Irish Music Showcase @ The RDS, The Hub & Voodoo.
SubZero is influenced by music from the 70s, 80s (up to & including 1984) - especially Led Zeppelin, Blondie, Bowie, Roxy, Kraftwerk, The Sex Pistols, The Cure & 21st century dance/electronica.
SubZero was born on a freezing cold day in January 2004, proudly wearing its influences like badges for the whole world to see - slamming them together in a sweaty rehearsal room in Dublin's Temple Bar to see what happens on the other side - Something original, something alive & bristling with energy, something with guts, attitude & great tunes.
Over the Christmas period, the band had been holed up in various studios in Dublin with acclaimed producer Paul Murphy, fresh from his production work in New York on the new Stone Ocean album. The fruits of these intense sessions are the "3 Songs" EP - to be played loud.
SubZero are here, now & unafraid!
