MANIFESTO >>> SuccoAcido.net is a multilanguage, international magazine of information, reviews, analysis and research: an insight into contemporary artistic forms, a network between experimental realities and various projects, suggesting a different interpretation of creating arts, based on sharing and spreading ideas.
The aim of the portal is to make languages cross, as an exchange between different networks and cultures in order to gain a new enrichment. In this prospect, SuccoAcido.net gives today to old and new readers the opportunity to become an active part of an interdisciplinary dialogue between geographically distant realities, joined by one common artistic and political project.
The website structure itself, with six homepages specifically dedicated to art, cinema, comics, music, theatre, writing, and with new interactive sections accessible to the community, allows an easy navigation through a complex and composite universe. We believe that the construction of an innovative, experimental knowledge and culture with a European and multiethnic quality lies on the crossing and valorisation of local languages.
SuccoAcido has always supported the principle of diversity, through the publication of articles and interviews in the original language, with respect for any source. This is a way to offer to any individual and to any community the chance to express their ideas and to assert their own roots. This is why we are adding a special attention to lesser-used languages, opening relationships with specific organizations and commissions on the subject.
As for crossing artistic networks, we believe that working inside limited and self-referential environments is not enough anymore for an audience of readers, scholars and amateurs. Now we need to connect fields and disciplines, crossing the boundaries built by cultural monopoly. On this purpose, SuccoAcido is following its own history as an independent paper fanzine, characterized by five years of work on paper, and introducing itself again, stronger and well motivated on the realization of a wider publishing project.
The website is an invitation to reading and writing, it supports independent criticism, it promotes artists and designers through the web gallery and dynamic databases, it allows anyone who works with cultural events or simply wants to announce an event to submit news, and anyone who is subscribed to the community can update his/her personal profile.
The choice of allowing anyone in the community to write about himself/herself, to publish images and texts, comes from the principle of interaction between artistic subjects and operators, between authors and their audience. Worlds that used to be divided by old-fashioned cultural roles are now linked through the forum, the internal mail-box, projects, profile databases and the work in progress area. Alongside the editorial choices of the publishing staff (thematic areas, articles, reviews, interviews, web galleries, bibliographies, etc) a network is built, made by a pattern of parallel relations among the users of the website, which allows them to communicate and share their voices.
After restoring the audience’s role as the centre of all action, SuccoAcido is offering new facilities, such as the calendar of events, a search engine that provides a daily selection of events inside one’s own areas of interest taking place all over the world; or Radio SuccoAcido, that will broadcast thematic discussions between the editorial staff and central characters of contemporary culture, including the artists/users of our community themselves; and also the SuccoAcido DVD/CD series productions, published by Edizioni De Dieux, a confirmation of the cultural choices of SuccoAcido to support international artistic projects or to promote new ones as a result of projects submitted to the community.
