All time: Saturday night Live, 1975-app.2000, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Twin Peaks, TV Funhouse (Comedy Central circ 2000), Lonesome Dove, original Star Trek. Love documentaries of all kind too.
  • Books

I admit I read mostly non-fiction, mostly history. (When not reading comic books, of course.) I credit the work of the late author Barbara Tuchman for instilling a 30 year passion of history. I read everything I have time to read on the America Revolution and the founding fathers, European history from the 18th through the 20th centuries, Napoleon, and Hitler. I have also spent the last 12 years or so researching everything about the Donner Party, in the hopes of one day finishing a screenplay on their story. I also enjoy the occasional biography, books on cinema, and at one time I would read just about any book on early baseball history.

About me:

I've had a pretty diverse career, but most of my jobs have been related to the entertainment field in one form or another. I have worked in the comic book, toy, and video game industries, among others. I have worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, Art Director, Creative Services Manager and presently as an editor for DC Comics/Wildstorm Productions/CMX.

I also wrote the script for a film called IDES OF MARCH (aka "Ultimate Target"), starring Gary Daniels. You can see the trailer below.

I was born and raised in a town called Broad Channel, a little island community in Jamaica Bay, Queens, New York, New York. I graduated from Hunter College in Manhattan where I majored in Art and minored in film studies. Lived in New York until I was 23, then lived in Connecticut, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and then several places in Southern California, currently in the lovely city of La Jolla, in San Diego County.

My wife Laurie and I recently separated after nine years of marriage. What more can I say about that? I wasn't about this turn of events, but I am doing my best to adjust to the new reality. We remain good friends.

What else do you need to know? If I won the lottery tomorrow (and I mean a BIG lottery), I would spend the rest of my life travelling, visiting old friends, reading books, listening to music and writing and directing movies.

Here's the trailer for a movie I wrote, IDES OF MARCH (since retitled ULTIMATE TARGET), starring Gary Daniels and Michael Madsen and directed by Darren Doane. To my knowledge, the movie has yet to see any sort of commercial releases. I got a VHS copy from the company that originally produced it. As far as I know, they no longer exist. But a new company called Bayshore Group now apparently owns it and has repackaged it under the new title. So we'll see. You can find the information on the film at their site--along with the snazzy new poster--by clicking here, then scrolling down a bit. (I had a link to an individual ULTIMATE TARGET page, but apparently they've taken down all these pages on their site.)

(The embedded video seems to only work intermittently. If it doesn't show up, click here to see it directly at YouTube.)

Yes, I draw! Not professionally, though I kinda, sorta did part of the time, years ago. Anyway, once in a while, the pencils come out. This is one I did several years ago as part of an intended, larger project I was doing on my own. Okay, I admit it. It was for a comic strip. Anyway, I always liked it. The mood feels right for the coming of the winter holidays...even if it never looks anything like this in San Diego. Ah, but I still remember east coast winters. Miserable.

Here's one of a more recent vintage: earlier this year. These are a couple of guys I have been drawing since I was a kid. I find myself wanting to draw again after a long hiatus, overwhelmed by other distractions. I forgot how great drawing actually was as a distraction itself, and much more satisfying than other, more passive activities.Anyway, not sure what the boys are doing, except hanging out, having a beer and feeling sorry for themselves. They're not always so depressive.

    Hey there,

    Here's one from left field...

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?

A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:

Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella

Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.

Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here:

    Help to raise awareness.

Say have you checked out my web site recently?

Take care and keep in touch.

    Best,

Hey, my MySpace friends, TODAY is the day! Don't miss Xeric winner "Jazz: Cool Birth," in September's Previews order book at comic shops today, under Aazurn Publishing!

Because "Jazz: Cool Birth" is inspired by '50s album cover design, transporting readers into 1957 jazz clubs, we're hearing interest from musicians and music lovers. Since "Jazz" is a murder mystery, mystery readers are also intrigued. Add to that comic book readers that enjoy Xeric grant winning indy books and we expect a rush of orders from September's Previews.

So many readers like you are enjoying Aazurn. com's done-in-one comic book short stories we are encouraged to continue to offer single story books! Thanks for helping us prove comics can be good, adult reading!
