Michael Perry/ MusicianReviews, writes:
"Fresh yet familiar, with a sound not equaled by many female vocalists of the last decade is proof that the area produces some of the best musicians in the industry and gives the listener a reason to keep listening."~~~
Harvey Siders: Emmy Award-winning composer, and well known jazz critic for Down Beat Jazz Times and the
Tacoma Tribune, writes:
"Sue Bell, is blessed with a wondrous, sensitive instrument that can transform ballads into tear-provoking poetry."

Tracks 1,3, 4 & 7 are all available for purchase on albums through cdbaby or individual tracks can be obtained on itunes. True to the jazz form, all musician's were present for the recording of each song hence, all instruments were played together and tracked at the same time~~~~~~~~
My player holds a potpourri of different tunes.~~Track 2 is from my first completed project 'Starry Night' discussed further on in this reading.~~ The 4th track was recorded back in 2002, at Music Works in Bellevue. This is among many piano tracks that were to be recorded throughout that year. Although, the initial intent for being at Music Works was to brush up on vocals, that changed when the on-site recording studio that had been closed down for some time suddenly reopened. Seemingly, this beckoned me down a different path, I could not ignore. Into the studio I went and is where I first met Hollywood engineer John Boghosian, who remained my dearest friend, until his untimely passing March 5, 2005. Seattle jazz singer Kelley Johnson, myself and John, spent a lot of time in that studio getting down some really cool piano/vocal recordings, vulnerable, raw and somewhat melancholy. I cherish those moments for the intimate and personal time shared...when we three stepped in to record the result left room for creativity, introspection and space.~~
Track 1, 3 and 7 are from my latest album 'Only Love', arranged and directed by bass player Douglas Barnett along with some of the finest jazz musician's known to the Seattle area. 'Small Day Tomorrow' (definitely a favorite among listeners) features LA trumpet player Patches Stewart, who has worked with Quincy Jones and has recording credits on albums for Al Jarreau, Earth Wind and Fire, Rickie Lee Jones, Lou Rawls, Whitney Houston and many more. He plays an amazing trumpet and is currently performing and making music with Grammy Award winner, Marcus Miller.~~ 'Funny Valentine' seems to be a version people really like, it took me a long time to decide to chart this and add it to my repertoire because I felt it was just so overdone. When I finally worked out an arrangement I could sink my teeth into, is when the decision to add it was made.~~ 'Peace Child' is a live recording taken with my small digital recorder at my church Christmas Day, 2008. This is sung with one of my closest friend's, Marilyn Takamaru, whom I also get the pleasure of singing with monthly, it is a joyful and emotionally moving experience. The energy that flows from singing with someone who can match a harmony to every melody note is unexplainable.~~'Too Late Now' is also on my latest album but, the recording here is taken from Ed Blanco's, radio show in Miami, Florida.~~ Besides radio play, 'Only Love' has received wonderful reviews from well respected jazz critics. If you want to find out more you can visit my website (link located to the left). From there you can click on the album covers to visit cdbaby where you can read full reviews. In addition you can check out my earlier project 'Starry Night' that is at cdbaby, as well. This album also showcases top notch, Seattle jazz players and possesses a different flavor from 'Only Love' which adds a nice variety. If you are interested in finding out more on my musician's just google the names that are listed to your left (or use the more completed musician's list located on my websites 'News' page). I hope you have enjoyed listening and reading about how the music here came to be. I have many more surprises and much recorded music that has never been released that I intend to rotate periodically so please, do visit often. Most important to me is the human connection. With my music, I have been honored with the opportunity of meeting others I would have never known. My ultimate goal is to continue to create meaningful music that people can connect to through my recordings and live performances:)
Sue, was on a long road trip and got to enjoy your 2006 release STARRY NIGHT on a sunny Sunday morning near Mt. Hood, Oregon. It was the perfect music for a perfect morning.
“WON’T LAST A DAY WITHOUT YOU” is an excellent arrangement and I especially enjoyed Tony Grasso’s Trumpet.
Your version of “VINCENT (STARRY STARRY NIGHT) was captivating to say the least- I have to admit I have never listened to the words as intensely as I did hearing you sing them.
“LET ME BE THE ONE” moves in a very cool way while “THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU” seems to make everything around slide in to slow motion in a jazzy way.
Always liked “ITS TOO LATE NOW” but your version has just the right groove. John Morton’s guitar in “I CAN’T MAKE YOU LOVE ME” tints your vocals just right and the CD rounds out with a superb version of “NEVER DREAMED YOU’D LEAVE IN SUMMER”.
Your CD "STARRY NIGHT" is obviously a must have for any Sue Bell fan or lovers of true music.
Hello Sue- great show at Grazie!!! I think your sax player who also blends in some flute from time to time suits that venue very nicely. That keyboard Chris was playing was so cool! I don't think I've seen him use that one before....
Always enjoy your colorful comments on life and music as well.
That spinach ravioli was da bomb- so was your music!
I think the sax/flute influence worked for that atmosphere – and the sporty changes of tempo’s was great. What was that – half time- on “Lets Get Away from it All”? Wow that was cool.
Can’t wait to sneak in and hear you play and see you live again.
Hi Sue, I agree with Gerard, below, great cut! Also have two new songs up, "That Light" and "Another Chance at Love". Stop by and listen when you can. Best, Chris
