Bio
Raised right here in the Valley of the Sun, Sue Harris has a special love for the West and its music. She has spent her life gathering songs and stories from and about the West - - from classic country to more recently written western songs; authentic folksongs, cowboy songs, poems and folktales describing what life was like here not that long ago; and even the occasional Mexican folksong. .. .. She has released two CD's - - "Where Have I Been All My Life" and "Tall Tales and Treasures", both of which have enjoyed international airplay. Her recording of Dean Cook's song "Where Do You Go When There's No Place to Go" was selected for inclusion on the Smithsonian Folkways label compilation CD "Songs and Stories from Grand Canyon", released in May 2005. Most of all, Sue enjoys the heck out of entertaining audiences who love melodies, stories, and laughing. .... Here is what critics have said: "Her unique and personable vocal style can take the simplest of songs and breathe into them life and vitality." - - John Schoenberger, The Album Network .... "Sue's marvelous interpretation and artistry make each song a wondrous stage to exhibit her evocative voice. The wide range of emotions she is capable of demonstrating vocally and instrumentally is limited only by the time constraints of the recording. Her rich, magical, unique and captivating voice enhance the subtle words of each song in her own inimitable style..." - - Meir Ben Hazzan, Folk Notes (Israel) .... "It's probably obvious that I am pretty much a traditionalist and a picky old cuss. I know what I like and what I don't like. I guess it's what they call mule headed. Well, Tall Tales & Treasures got this old mule moving. This one now holds a cherished spot in my all time favorites collection. .... "Western music seems to be running the course of many other genres of music -- it all gets to sounding the same after a while. This definitely is not the case with Tall Tales & Treasures. Sue Harris has a masterful touch with "true western music". She conveys the feeling of what this music is supposed to be about -- wide open spaces, a type of life style and a particular type humor indigenous to the west. Tall Tales & Treasures succeeds where other attempts seem to fall short. It's WESTERN and traditional sounding to boot. Plus, Sue gets the Lone Hand Golden Saddle Award for knowing how to play a waltz. Tall Tales & Treasures is a must have recording for fans of western music or great music in general". - - Mark Bridge, PhD, Lone Hand Western .... "Like Maura O'Connell, Phoenician Sue Harris is not a songwriter, but rather a gifted interpreter. And as with O'Connell, Harris' singing is difficult to fault, a rich, warbling alto, enthusiastically employed." - - Jim Foley, Music Director, KXCI-FM, Tucson, AZ -

Sue Harris dear:
Beautiful music and voice. Ive been listening and after hearing out your repertoire, decided to choose "The Quail Sisters" as my best-loved song. Congratulations and good luck in your musical career. I hope you can also find any interest in my modest provincial music, my very roots, which are part of my CD "Nas quebradas do sertão", released a couple of years ago.
Please, accept my fraternal musical embrace from your Brazilian admirer,
Taquinho Noronha
