On a grass leaf, awaiting the morning sun
The dew is melting.
Do not stir the field so soon, wind of autumn!
To what may this world be likened?
Moonlight in a dewdrop
Falling from a duck's beak.
Eagle Poem by Joy Harjo
To pray you open your whole self
To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon
To one whole voice that is you
And know there is more
That you can't see, can't hear
Can't know except in moments
Steadily growing, and in languages
That aren't always sound but other
Circles of motion
Like eagle that Sunday morning
Over Salt River. Circled in blue sky
In wind, swept our hearts clean
With sacred wings.
We see you, see ourselves and know
That we must take the utmost care
And kindness in all things.
Breathe in, knowing we are made of
All this, and breathe, knowing
We are truly blessed because we
Were born, and die soon within a
True circle of motion,
Like eagle rounding out the morning
Inside us.
We pray that it will be done
In beauty,
In beauty.
If You Come Softly by Audre Lorde
If you come as softly
As wind within the trees
You may hear what I hear
See what sorrow sees.
If you come as lightly
As threading dew
I will take you gladly
Nor ask more of you.
You may sit beside me
Silent as a breath
Only those who stay dead
Shall remember death.
And if you come I will be silent
Nor speak harsh words to you.
I will not ask you why, now.
Or how, or what you do.
We shall sit here, softly
Beneath two different years
And the rich earth between us
Shall drink our tears.
Another Rhythm by Gloria T. Hull
Little girl
grown up
Little grown-up girl
We've cried
We've held ourselves
We've rocked
to the rhythm
of tears
turning pain
to peace
Rise up now
woman
Adorn yourself
Let your light
and beauty
shine
Solace by Margaret Walker
Now must I grieve and fret my little way
into death's darkness, ending all my day
in bitterness and pain, in striving and in stress;
go on unendingly again
to mock the sun with death
and mask all light with fear?
Oh no, I will not cease to lift my eyes
beyond those resurrecting hills;
a Fighter still, I will not cease to strive
and see beyond this thorny path a light.
I will not darken all my days
with bitterness and fear,
but lift my heart with faith and hope
and dream, as always, of a brighter place.

I'm a retired forensic psychologist. You've seen some of my former patients on TV crime shows & in books. I love the mountains & the beach. I spent lots of time bodysurfing along the Gulf Coast of n. FL during the 10 years I lived there. As a lawyer, I also worked with political prisoners and Puerto Rican prisoners of war; many received clemency from Bill Clinton.
I play a mean keyboard! I love music--listening, singing, playing, composing! I did some audio engineering in the late 80s/early 90s & was going to be an official audio engineer until I discovered a minor hearing loss; it doesn't keep me from enjoying music, though! I have a home recording studio.
Over the years I have played many musical instruments, including violin, piano, organ, oboe, guitar, banjo, mandolin, & harmonica.
I love the outdoors, being with wildlife, and meditating. I'm part Lakota. I get along with many different kinds of people, celebrate diversity, & work for peace.
In the mid 80s I owned Antigone Books, the women's bookstore in Tucson. My successors have done a wonderful job of keeping the store active and thriving.
Summer 2008, I was able to go on a music cruise to the Caribbean with Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, & Melinda Doolittle. It was wonderful!
Accolades to the U of Arizona women's and men's swim teams for winning the 2008 NCAA swimming championships! Well done, tremendous teamwork!
Congrats to the U of Arizona women's softball team for winning the 2007 NCAA title, to Taryne Mowatt for ESPY female athlete of the year and female college athlete of the year, and to Caitlin Lowe, a NFCA Golden Shoe Award winner! Kudos to the U.S. softball team, winning the 2007 World Cup.

I've been trying to think of the words to express my thoughts and feelings as this year draws to an end, but I couldn't come up with anything better than what a friend sent me so, with my friend's permission, I pass on these same words to you:
all i REALLY want...is to be happy. whatever that means, however you break it down...isn't that what most of us want? whether it's money, success. a better home, a better partner! good health. travel. whatever the details are, it's the big picture i am thinking about (while i chase the details).
the world is a mess. a lot to complain about, but, rather than just complain, am going to focus on the POSITIVE.
so... will take good care of myself, my loved ones, my friends. will work hard, and play harder. will strive for what i want, forgive myself for what doesn't work, and never lose sight of the goal: to be HAPPY.
hope this coming year is the best one ever, for all of us. find what you want, take what you need, give what you can. share the wealth, the love, the good stuff. get thru the bad stuff, ask for help when u need it.
make it a truly monumental, valuable, humane year.

Just checking in with you my friend and hoping you are well this holiday season!
A THOUGHT AT CHRISTMAS ...
"The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each others' burdens, easing other's loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of Christmas."
~ W. C. Jones
MAY YOUR HEART BE FILLED WITH THE JOYOUS SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS ALL YEAR LONG!
Please stay in touch from time to time and let me know how you are!
On this date, December 8, The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated, as well as the enlightenment of Buddha. "Buddha" means "awakened one" or "enlightened one."
To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If you can control your mind, you can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to you.
Whatever your religious beliefs, on this day I'm wishing you Enlightenment, lighting the way to love and peace!
Hi Sue, Did you know that November 13th is World Kindness Day? While it's sad that we need a day set aside to be kind to people, I'm viewing this as an opportunity to start something that won't end when the sun goes down, but will continue throughout the year and onward. If you're at a loss of what you can do to celebrate this day, you can go here and get some ideas: http://www.actsofkindness.org/ Remember, one random act of kindness can change someone's life! Now go forth and do good things! Abundant Love and Sunshine, Setra www.daughterofthesun.com www.twitter.com/setra
Hi Sue, Did you know that November 9th is Chaos Never Dies Day? Today is a day to recognize and acknowledge the chaos in your life. Chaos never dies. Rather, it's a way of life. You can partake in this day by putting just a little order back into your life. Pick one thing that is really disrupting your life, and change it. Here's wishing you a calm and serene Chaos Never Dies Day! Abundant Love and Sunshine, Setra www.daughterofthesun.com www.twitter.com/setra
Hey, I posted up a new song a week or so ago, it's called Masquerade--based on the ballroom scene of Romeo and Juliet. Just wanted to stop by and let you know, it's a *free* download on my page (on the left side, right above my Twitter and Facebook boxes.) I hope you enjoy it; if you do, please pass it on to your friends and help me spread the love :)
Thank you for the spiritual support and healing prayers for my friend in Greece... We must always count our blessings. I simply can't imagine all that she is enduring right now.
I hope you and yours are enjoying a most blessed fall season...
Thank you Sue for letting me know that about the video. I will upload it tonight from a CD. I was using a link from my friend, but I guess that does not work.
I'll let you know when I have uploaded it myself to my site. Michala
On this, the birthday of Ghandi, I'm focusing on the Tarot Card of Strength, which symbolizes his birth date, and represents strength, health and physical fortitude, as well as the ability to overcome opposition and bring inner qualities of strength and forbearance!
Here's wishing you all of the above in these trying times!
Have a glorious weekend!!!
