  • Bio

.... .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... ..Get Your Own!.. | ..View Slideshow...... San Francisco’s Sugar dePalma (a.k.a. SugarD) is the latest collaboration of bassist/vocalist Joe Costa and guitarist Scott Czadzeck. After a rather lengthy hiatus following their work together in a power pop band called Splatterbox, the two reformed in 2006 and set out to have some fun exploring new musical avenues with Sugar dePalma being the result. .... They’re currently working feverishly on their forthcoming debut album "The Return Of Sugar dePalma" due out, if all goes well, early 2009.

  • Influences

Shameless influences are: Wire, Buzzcocks, The Clash, Radiohead, Young Marble Giants, (Old) Cure, Colin Newman, Kammerflimmer Kollektief, Broadcast, Giant Drag, LCD Soundsystem, The Monochrome Set, Lene Lovich, Swans, Nick Cave, Broken Social Scene (making "let's rock" hand sign), Hedwig! The Shins, Rogue Wave, Spoon, The Sea and Cake, Phoenix, The American Analog Set, Pinback, M. Ward, T-Rex, Fannypack, M.I.A., Telefon Tel Aviv, Echo and The Bunnymen, Weekend, blah blah blah
  • Sounds Like

Okay .... uh.... don't you just hate this question? It's like asking what do you want in a spouse. Anything you might say sounds like a cliche, "uh, we don't really sound like anybody". No, you just completely re-invented rock! Okay... uh ... No matter what kind of music we've done in the past, everyone always says The Cure. I'm serious even if we were playing country people would say, "it kind of reminds me of the Cure". That's okay, we actually kind of sound like The Cure ... and Wire, ....uh Spoon? If you have any ideas, send us a message and tell us. Our approach is definitely a post punk, pre-new wave, "deconstruction of rock" similar to bands like Devo, Split Enz, The Stranglers, XTC, etc...

I sense (at least) three influences:
