Sugar Free
Sugar Free/Mosaik is the most influentional band to come out of Chongqing, China. They have performed in a variety of corporate sponsored engagements as well as alternative, underground shows. They are the only band in Chongqing to release two albums in the Asian market as well as the only band to travel outside the country to perform and promote their music. The band enjoys a strong following in Southern China, particularly in their hometown of Chongqing. The following chronicles highlights in the history of Sugar Free:
1993 Decay Band founded by Xiao Jia.
1994 Performed original work ¡°No One Can Shut me Up¡± and ¡°Excuse¡± in Chongqing¡¯s First Rock Festival
1995 Decay Band records first demo with Chongqing TV station, all material lost in studio fire
1996 Decay Band members part. Xiao Jia single handedly records ¡°Everyone Must Die¡± Demo in Chongqing
1997 Moonshine Band formed, Demo recorded and band signs with Scorpio Records, Beijing
1998 Scorpio enters bankruptcy, Moonshine Band changes its name to Mosaik and signs with Zheng Yue Tian Records, Beijing.
1999 January ¨C Mosaiks¡¯first album is recorded in Beijing with Wang Lan on drums.
July ¨C Mosaik performs as the opening act for Compass at Chongqings¡¯ First Annual Octoberfest
2000 March ¨C EMI Records invites Mosaik to perform in the Beatles ¡°Yellow Submarine¡± Memorial Concert in Beijing October ¨CChongqing Communications Radio Concert, Fuling
2001 February ¨C Opening Act at The Little Bar Chengdu, for month long Rock n¡¯ Roll showcase March ¨C SOHU Web Anniversary Guest performers April ¨C Mosaik ¡°Sounds of Pitch¡± Demo recorded in Xiao Jia¡¯s home studio.
