About me:
We are the Sugar Hill Georgia Chapter of Newborns In Need. We welcome all volunteers!!! I will post updates, meeting times and other news items in the blog and bullentins. If you want to volunteer for NIN please send me a message and I will get back to you.

Newborns in Need, Inc. (NIN) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to serving premature and newborn babies and their families across the United States. NIN provides every assistance they can to babies and families in need, and we need your help!

Newborns In Need

When a child is born to a needy family, and it comes time to leave the hospital, many times that tiny baby may be wearing just a disposable diaper. Sometimes-too many times-there's not even a receiving blanket waiting for them at home-if they even have a home to go to. In winter, that means there is a good chance the baby will be back in the hospital with pneumonia, or worse, die from the cold.

This is an ongoing need. Your donations of time, sewing notions, and money to help alleviate the suffering of tiny helpless babies is greatly needed and appreciated.
Who I'd like to meet:
All the NICU nurses, the babies we have helped and all the families!

Newborns in Need welcomes your contributions of time, money or baby items.

Sew for the needy babies and send the finished items to us to distribute.

Donate sewing notions, fabric, and patterns to be used for the benefit of the sick and needy premature and newborn babies.

Start a chapter in your area to sew baby clothing, quilts, blankets, toys and much needed other items. We believe in communities helping their own. Donation boxes are received on a regular basis filled with donations of finished goods and supplies, and are shipped directly to those needing them or shipped to chapters to distribute in their area. With the support of caring people all around the world, we can make a difference in the lives of God's tiniest children.

Donate much needed funds. If you don't sew, but really want to help, your donation of money is much needed to provide shipping, stamps, paper, and sewing supplies that are not donated. We rely on donations from people who really care and want to make a difference.

Get your school involved. Teachers can involve their students in projects that benefit the sick and needy and send the finished products to us. We send a thank you letter that can be photocopied and put in each child's portfolio. Students can talk with their teachers and classmates about starting a supplies drive at school.

Do you Facebook? Add our Cause to your profile and recruit your friends to support our organization. You can donate directly on our Cause Application page or you can link up with other volunteers and supporters and get the ball rolling in your community.

Donate items to be sold in our flea market to raise funds for the children. We have flea market booths that help generate money for stamps, paper goods, shipping, purchased baby clothing, pacifiers, and other things that must be bought to benefit the children. You might not be able to donate the supplies we need, but you may very well have items that can be sold at our flea market. For instance, a donated china cat sold for $5.50 and we bought 5 1/2 yards of flannelette to make receiving blankets!

Use your knitting, tatting, and crocheting talents to make much needed baby clothing and bedding. Some patterns are available on our web site.

Spread the word by distributing flyers and/or talking to your church group. Many groups have been started by someone who heard about the great need for assistance for sick and needy babies and families from a caring person like yourself.

Are you a Wal Mart employee? You can help the babies through the Volunteerism Always Pays Program. Wal Mart will donate $250 every six months for every 25 hours an employee donates to Newborns in Need - make YOUR time count for the babies! Sign up now and encourage others to do so.

We're sure you have many more ideas and we will be looking forward to your suggestions. Email us and let us know what YOUR ideas are to help the children and how YOU will be helping.

We encourage you to get involved. YOU might be the one who makes the difference in the life of a tiny child.
