I'm a professional Seamstress & Corset Maker from Columbus, OH. *Professional* is the title that almost 24 years' experience will afford you. I make high-quality handcrafted custom corsets, (some) women's clothing, and costumes. I'm kind of a hermit, and I'm actually very shy (which doesn't bode well for needs to network as much as I do). I love what I do and I'd do anything for my clients. I am extremely busy, and a one-woman show, so if I don't email you back right away, it's only because there's about 1,000 emails in front of yours. Nothing personal!

[MINI-BIO FOR ANYONE WHO'S INTERESTED IN SUCH THINGS:]
I'm Shannon Mingus, aka SugarKitty. I started my own business in 2003. I have a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix that weighs 13 lbs and thinks he's a giant. I have lived in Columbus since I graduated college (2001), and I now operate my business out of a studio in Clintonville (like a real business person and everything!!). I'm rather fastidious about punctuation & grammar. I love reading & using big words (I'm really just a giant nerd at heart). I love to cook, and am damn good at it. I love crappy 80's pop music. My favorite colors are pink & black. I'm not a natural redhead. I'm left-handed. I have a super cool artist boyfriend that talks more than anyone I've ever met. 311 is my favorite band of all time (there's a show June 17th! I can't wait!!). I'm a fairly decent writer, but hate writing/talking about myself, and do a pretty poor job when I try to. I'd much rather talk about my work. Far more interesting.

..Because 8,000 people keep asking me the same questions, here's a list of services I DON'T offer:

-Alterations. Of any kind. Call a drycleaning service.

-Men's clothing or costumes. Sorry, I'm busy enough with women's apparel.

-Repairs or alterations of a corset you bought elsewhere. Spend a little extra money and buy a high-quality custom one from me instead.

-Copies of designer gowns. I can make you something similar, but I'm not copying the Dior gown you saw so-and-so wearing at the Oscars. For one, that's stealing. Two, I'd much rather design something with you that's original (at least somewhat).

-Trade models. I get dozens of requests a week. I do need to eat and pay bills. I can't afford to give out any more freebies right now.

-Lend out corsets. I don't have samples or stock. Everything I make is custom. Each corset is so labor-intensive, I don't have time to make piles of them to sit around the studio in case someone needs to borrow one.
