Sugar Mama plays strong, original rock laced with reggae and funk vibrations straight from Boston. The band formed in February of 2008, and has since been making a name for itself in the local rock scene. By utilizing energetic, dynamic rock riffs, lock tight grooves, and precise, intriguing melodies, SM has evolved into a solid group that alludes strongly to the familiar styles of their influences (Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime, Stone Temple Pilots, RX Bandits), while simultaneously portraying a fresh, new sound uniquely their own. The three members are known for putting on a lively show that represents the uninhibited emotion and raw energy of their songs. They have been playing out since May of 2008, and recently hit the road for a 2-week northeast tour in support of their debut EP. A full-length album is due this fall.
