About me: Sugarzine is a cultural web-magazine devoted to all things Queens. After spending five years as an NYC cultural web site, we've decided to hone in on what the borough of Queens has to offer. If you're looking for great restaurants, hip new stores, the art scene or a place to kick back with your friends and have a good time, Sugarzine's your guide to keeping things local. Don't fret though, you can still find your favorite SZ writers and enjoy their monthly literary contributions, too.
The influx of young, creative professionals, set to a backdrop of family-oriented cultural diversity lends itself to a borough that's infused with both authenticity and innovation. In Queens, urban sensibility meets neighborhood comfort, and Sugarzine provides insight for readers who want to find that perfect combination.
Writers at Sugarzine are long-term Queens residents in-the-know as well as newbies eager to seek out local gems in neighborhoods like Sunnyside, Astoria, Woodside and Jackson Heights, to name a few. This web-mag isn't an encyclopedia of every minute detail about Queens, NY. We won't bog you down with listings of local dry cleaners or apartment rentals. You know that one person you always go to for great suggestions on where to go or what to do next? That's us. So if you live in Queens or are thinking of paying a visit, Sugarzine can help you out. For those who think the only thing Queens has to offer is an airport, well then, we're here to prove you wrong.
With love,
the staff at SZ
With a huge thank you going out to Niall Connolly and the Sunday Social at LIC Bar (45-58 Vernon Blvd. LIC, Queens) for hosting, I'd like to announce that I am releasing my new album on the evening of May 17th, 2009. As I am primarily a singer of blues and pop tunes, this album was quite an experience and adventure for me.
If you are at all interested, even curious; then come on down and join all the fun, helping me celebrate the release of an album I hope you will all enjoy.
