Suicidal Poets are a crossover between Folk, Rock, Pop, Alternative. The Suicidal Poets launched onto the music scene in 1999 .Since then it has been an upward spiral of success. The band has been featured as the ..1 hottest undiscovered rock band on the MTVundiscovered site. Their music has been included on several compilation c.d's including the highly acclaimed compilation c.d with artists such as Brad Pitt, among others. Their unique eclectic style of music which ranges from pop rock to gothic folk. Led by lead singer Michelle and bassist Carmelo, who write the band's music, they have even caught the attention of major producers like Lewis A. Martinee, who produced artists such as Vanessa Williams, Enrique Iglesias and The Pet Shop Boys, to name a few. They have been featured as the hottest unsigned song in the pop rock and alternatve charts on Yahoo Music and many other sites. Why this name? It's a combination of reasons. It started with the song 'Suicidal Poets'. Then one night, Carmelo was playing so furiously that he ripped the calluses off his fingers, and started bleeding all over the stage. That made the name stick! The band has played in many of the top clubs in New York City and Northern New Jersey, with the occasional Boston road trip....Venues include: The Bitter End , Knitting Factory, Kenny's Castaways, Arlene's Grocery, Manny's Carwash, Images, Rosie's, Babe's Place, Orphan Annie's, Fibber Magee's, The Blue Room, Limerick House, Blaggards, and The New York State Festival, to name a few. Suicidal Poets have open for,as well as backed, folk legend Pete Seager, and orchestra director David Amram . We love performing. Specially those moments when the audience is visually captivated. The combination of talent & different styles is best felt during our performances.
