Beatles, Duran Duran, Moulin Rouge, Bjork, Rufus Wainwright, Mike Patton, Queen, Tom Waits, Tears For Fears, hallucinogenics in our earlier years and the psychological repercussions, a broken heart, GOD (he, she or it), The Sex Pistols, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Bauhaus, Jesus, the drama of life that is sometimes subtle and sometimes like a kick in the mouth. Late 70's and 80's punk, new wave and glam. The dark side of lifes wisdom. New York and London. Prada, Dolce & Gabana, Banana Republic, and GQ Magazine. The power of imagination. Harry Houdini, Mary Shelly, Radiohead, U2, Edgar Allen Poe, e.e. cummings, Portishead, Spirtualized, The Killers, Daryl Hall & John Oats, Police, Blondie, Adam Ant. Oscar Wilde, Albert Einstein (we still believe time travel is possible). The drone of an analog synth through a delay pedal. The popular product of Pop music and all its pros and cons. Big wet sloppy kisses, the smell of a woman. All the crap from our childhood that we try and can't forget. The sound of an empty theater and the break of silence. Desire, passion, and the inevitable appoach of death.
On their way to creating a bigger buzz than a Peruvian Snowstorm the Suicide Darlings embellish the sleekness and savvy of the "next" New Wave, a satisfying fix for the masses cravings for candy that is both pleasing to the eye and sweet on the ear.
After their exodus from the "LA" scene, the band members regrouped in their native and nicotine capitol of North Carolina during the winter of 2005. The writing and recording sessions for their debut CD " Tragic for the Masses" immediately followed. What was birthed was a kaleidoscopic lyrical journey through the angst and confusion of post-modern life with the rhythms and melodies of the London underground and its soundtrack.
Having past involvement in the Atlanta, San Diego and Los Angeles music scenes, not to mention club dates throughout the U.S. each member brings an extensive musical history along with a list of previous bands to numerous to name.
Armed with the power of a sawed off shotgun that playfully hits you with the sting of a velvet glove, Suicide Darlings take aim at the often bland and clone producing world of the music industry.
All song written and arranged by Joey Barnes, Jason Blaustein, Todd Oakley and Todd Rierson. Lyrics by Jason B, Joey B, and Todd O.
In closing and in quote... " We are the music makers. We are the dreamers of the dream. We are the movers and shakers of the world forever it seems." -Arthur O'Shaughnessy
