Recording artist Sullee is best know for his part in VH1’s infamous “Ego Trips: The White Rapper Show,” when he walked away from the cash and the show in defense of his music. Today, Sullee positions himself for the release of his debut album An American Tale in the final quarter of 2009 (Old South End Records). The playlist includes three already released tracks that feature some of today’s top names in hip hop: “What Cha Tryin To Do” featuring Joe Budden, “Today” featuring Cool and Dre and “Sippin” featuring Busta Rhymes. Together the singles have accumulated over 5,000 national radio spins – impressive for any independent artist. “With this album I feel like people will finally get to know me for who I am,” says Sullee. “The show was a good experience and it exposed me to millions on a weekly basis, ultimately I did what I needed to do but this album will show that I don’t try to be hip hop, I am hip hop.” An American Tale is a collection of music inspired by the works of hip hop greats like Das Efx, Cypress Hill and DMX, as well as the varied sounds of rock and R&B influences. “My family influences me a lot and I’m blessed to have been exposed to a variety of music growing up. I’m a big fan of all music, from classical to metal, and I pulled from everywhere in creating this album while still paying homage to hip-hop,” Sullee explains. Sullee is cunning, polite and determined and when sitting down with him its easy to see why television and music find him so appealing. His resume steadily growing to include musical greats and industry trendsetters; Sullee has worked with industry trendsetters such as Teddy Riley, Slash of Guns and Roses, Rick Ross, Mims, Billy Squier, Ken Lewis, Jackpot, Claudette Ortiz of City High and Producers Coalition of America. Born in Boston to a large Irish-American family, Sullee has been involved in music since he was five year’s old, as part of the R&B group TCB, which shared the same management with the super group New Kids on the Block. After an adolescent hiatus from the business, Sullee returned to entertainment with appearances on ABC Family’s “Knock First” and Discovery Channel’s “Party Planners.” Now he is immersed in the creation, promotion and success of his debut album An American Tale, which will be independently released under his own record label Old South End Records and guided by his management team at WEG (Wright Entertainment Group), whose roster also includes Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and Ciara. “I am blessed to have such a great team of people that believe in me. I know that I am exceptional when I am on my game and miserable when I am bored so I’m determined to succeed in what ever I do,” shares Sullee. He recently toured the East Coast and will continue appearances and performances throughout the year.
