Sultan Pepper is made up of four great kids. Guitarist Dan Ahmad and Vocalist Travis Martin began making beautiful music together in December of 2004. Not the gay kind of beautiful music though. They both like chicks.
Anyways, using a guitar as their paintbrush and a macbook as their canvas, they would transfer whatever ditties were floating around in their head into music. There was only one problem. It was horrible, horrible music.
Like actually, I can't properly describe how awful most of this was. Realizing that the trash they were producing made a dog taking a dump on your lawn look like Vincent Van Gogh's "The Scream", they decided to take a break in order to pursue other projects.
Other projects however, were not pursued.
In January of 2008 though, like the Prodigal Son, creativity came crawling back on it's hands and knees, begging for forgiveness. Dan called up Trav and was like 'Dude! I've got a sweet guitar part, can I bring over my laptop so we can turn this into a song?' and Trav was like 'I work tonight, maybe tomorrow.'
Maybe tomorrow indeed, as the following day Trav and Dan got together to work on this song. Travis, having discovered that he had a brother who had been living with him for the past 17 years, asked him to record the drum part for the song. Garrett, the aforementioned brother, did. Travis then laid down the bass and collaborated with Dan for the vocals. Once the song was finished they had figured it was pretty good. The public agreed, and after sending it to a couple friends, they were given the opportunity to have it played on some college radio stations. They humbly accepted the offer, and proceeded to brag about it to their friends until they were only left with each other as companions. Still not gay though.
Realizing that they were swinging at a pinata filled with potential and candy, they recruited a bass player and asked Garrett, the brother which we were talking about earlier to stay on drums. After cycling through a series of bassists, some awesome, some just absolutely atrocious, they settled on David Fish. The fourtuplet now find themselves stooping to new lows, putting themselves in compromising positions and going through about a bottle of Scope a week, just to increase their popularity. Luckily however, it's working, as Sultan Pepper is quickly becoming a household name.
At least in the houses of the band members.
