About me:
The Sumac Hills course was started in the woods at the Tim & Kathy Ray farm with a few simple buckets and hubcaps hanging from trees for targets. It is evolving every year and now has SEVERAL CHAIN TARGETS, creamery can targets, signs and 18 holes. For the past 5 years, the Ray family has hosted a disc golf tournament featuring LIVE MUSIC at night and spectacular camping! For the first three years, the tourney was spearheaded my the late JASON RAY, who was sadly taken from us in a kayak accident in April 2005. In the spirit of his memory, the tournament and party lives on! Past performers have included THE WHITE IRON BAND, THE KUNG FU HIPPIES, THE ONE EYED JACKS, BAD MOJO, THE BARKING FROGS, THE LOST MARBLES, AND THE HIGH STRUNG STRING BAND!
The Fifth Annual DiscStock is scheduled for Saturday July 28th 2007.

Tim Ray explains the "Best Lie" random-doubles method:
The very first Discstock which was Jason's brainchild, we had a random-doubles draw (two separate rounds with the SAME PARTNER, and did a simple "best lie" game). If I recall, that promoted discussion between you and your partner as to who was gonna "take the putt", and the neat thing was you could trade off final "PUTS" with your partner. I favor keeping the same doubles partner both rounds, you could talk strategy between rounds. Yeah, two rounds, "best lie", keep doubles partner, and then the good throwers, regardless of the quality of the partner, will do well, and the partners with the "good throwers" will have a sort of learning experience, positive reinforcement because they will get a pretty good score themselves, etc. So, the doubles team keeps one scorecard between them, and they both share in the spoils, so to speak. It would be too complicated to trade off on "who tees off, who throws second" on each hole, let's just go "best lie"...keep it simple, easy to score, promote fellowship, reward good throwers.
We should have some categories as well, maybe:
Lowest Overall Team Score
Second Lowest Team Score
Third Lowest Team Score
Longest Tee (maybe like we do it before, with a marker)
Closest to Basket (on the TinMan hole)
Hole-in-One Kitty
Youngest Player
Oldest Player
