It was the summer of 2003, in a basement in Stamford, Connecticut, when a group of classmates came together to form a jazz combo called the Standards. Their unique way of modifying various jazz songs carried the band from that basement to private parties and local functions where audiences quickly embraced their fresh sound and style, and referred them to new gigs around Connecticut. .... But with a passion for all kinds of music, the band members began feeling limited in the artistic expression afforded them by the Standards name, and sought to evolve the band into something more. A lead singer and a few musicians later, Summer Lost was born... .... Today, Summer Lost is an award-winning band playing shows all over the Northeast. At their core is a tight rhythm section with an alternate guitar or bass, keyboard and drums, all accompanied by a crisp horn line comprised of a trumpet and alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones to hold together the harmony. And completing the band is an outstanding lead vocalist, adding even greater depth and variety to their sound. .... In a word, Summer Lost is versatile, fusing elements of swing, blues, rock, funk, hip-hop, and of course, jazz to put a unique twist on classic and modern songs.
