   About The Summer Sundae Weekender Fringe Festival

The Fringe 2009: The Summer Sundae Fringe Festival will return in 2009, bigger and better then ever before. As ever there will be our usual ‘talk of the town’ Thursday night warm up parties, but this year there’s more……

We are spreading our wing and creating a two week programme of events, showcasing the best in music and arts that Leicester has to offer.

The Dates: 31st July to 13th August 2009

The Fringe Needs You! Want to get involved?
As before we will organise the Thursday night warm up parties (we think we have got pretty good at it!) but to grow we want local promoters / arts groups / entrepreneurs / bands / groups / venues to organise their own in events across the ‘fringe fortnight’. We’re hoping to feature (amongst others) dance, drama, comedy & electronica. We will provide the Summer Sundae Fringe website as a hub for all the activities as well as a full fringe festival events guide with access to a press office and other marketing channels for the promotion and co-ordination for events (and for the avoidance of artistic or venue clashes).

We also ask that all Fringe affiliated events use our fringe logo on publicity materials, and link to this website (terms and conditions will be available soon).

To get the festival going Cuttlefish will be organising an audiovisual 'launch party' on Friday 31st July.

The Summer Sundae warm up parties will then close the fringe festival in a 2,000 strong city wide party on Thursday 13th August 2009. Still interested?: Then get in touch. If you are interested in discussing an event for the ‘Fringe Fortnight’ then get in touch with us with your ideas (contact details on Summer Sundae Fringe website). Demand for events is expected to be high so we will be a bit selective about what is included in the festival programme, with the priority given to grassroots events that feature musicians and artists from Leicester.

Static Rain is a 2 piece band from the beautiful Yorkshire town of Keighley. Band members Tony Garthwaite and Jacob Barlow formed the band in 2008, driven by a joint passion for both electronic music and retro synths. The music they produce can be described as electronic pop with catchy choruses and memorable riffs that are prominent in all of their songs, making them popular with a very wide audience.

Following their initial success on MySpace, Static Rain continues to build a solid fan base and a strong reputation as a live act. The band is currently looking for gigs from June 09 onwards throughout the whole of the UK.
